I admit, Hanks is good and several are like Mel Gibson who is good, but nobody can fit in as this generations "John Wayne" like Clint Eastwood can. Just an opinion of course. :D

Always liked Clint. However, some of my favorites were in one movie:
Clint Eastwood
Tommy Lee Jones
Donald Sutherland
James Garner

Movie title anyone?

Another list for favorites:
Robert Duvall
Michael Caine

Space Cowboys--and I greatly enjoyed seeing these fine actors working together. I still need to add that dvd to the collection.

Robert Duvall, James Garner, would have to be near the top of my list. Maybe they may or may not act in your favorite type movies, but these guys know how to act! We just watched "The Apostle" last night again and Duvall had to have been to many of those sermons to play that role!

Clint is not only arguably the best living actor but is contribution to the movie industry on either side of the camera in unparalleled. His imagination, creativity and his penchant for trying new ideas and pursuit of personal interests has made him the best person to come along for the movie industry in years, maybe ever.

John Hurt is right up there, so is Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hanks is anti-gun, but he can act. Clint Eastwood is I would say one of the greatest actors ever, as well as a director. I watched Every Which Way But Loose the other night and nearly fell out of my chair laughing. As far as an actor of my generation (80's and 90's) Mel Gibson is there, and I mean right there at the top. While most people think only of Lethal Weapon and Braveheart but the movie that we watched in high school that just blew me away was when he was Hamlet. I am not even a Shakespeare fan but when he did that movie, well I can tell you there should have been some awards handed out. I would round out the list with Gary Oldman, Christian Bale and Russell Crowe. Oldman for about anything he does, Bale's ability to pick up nearly any accent simply by listening to it and Russell Crowe's ability to switch from tough guys to everyday people. He went from Gladiator to A Beautiful Mind with ease. That's a gift.

Well they both have the same time stamp but yours hit the board first so I graciously defer to your speedy typing. :D But as I said I'll gettcha next time. ;)

Thats sad because, I was typing one fingered since Shasta is sleeping in my other hand. :)
