Who here likes the 327 and/or 627?

Lately I have become interested in an 8-shot 357, so interested, in fact, that it might actually overcome my aversion to locks and become my first internal lock gun (was tempted by the 21-4 but couldn't pull the trigger)..

They both have 5" barrels, and they look to be priced about the same (MSRP approx. $1400!), which surprised me, considering the 327 is scandium. I figured the 627 would be a few hundred cheaper, but then again, they are performance center guns.

Who likes these? How do they shoot/handle? 627 is around 44 oz and 327 is around 35 I think. Do I really need another 357??

You can never have enough .357s. I bought a 327 Nightguard about 4 months ago for a carry gun. I like how it shoots and it's accurate. I use 125+P SJHP. I went with this one because the 627s were more expensive and harder to find with the 2 5/8 bbl., and I knew the lighter weight would be more comfortable when fully loaded. It is the only IL Smith I have. I had reservations but have been pleased. One of these days I will order a plug. The only complaint would be those rubber grips. I replaced mine with some Rosewood Altamont Conversions

As you you can see by my avatar I like the 627 a lot. I have two cyl. for it 1 is in 9mm. I shot it at the PSA shootout last month and it performed very well. I used my 9mm cyl. and factory federal 9mm. accuracy was not a problem.

Where did you get that one? I haven't seen that model around my area. Did you have it refinished like that, and can I order the extra cylinder in 9mm? Also I'm been trying to score those same grips! As to the question of the 627...... I have the Performance Center 627, and I love it. Mine is the standard version. It has a nice heft to it, and even hotter loads are a pleasure to shoot! I have no experience with the Scandium frame 327. I would imagine it packs a heck of a wallop. Though it probably carries nice!

I'm partial to this 327 TRR8. Recoil is not an issue, and it's very accurate. The Trijicon RMR sight is great fun, and doesn't need batteries.

Where did you get that one? I haven't seen that model around my area. Did you have it refinished like that, and can I order the extra cylinder in 9mm? Also I'm been trying to score those same grips! The 627 I have is 1 of 125. They don't make these anymore. As for the grips, PM me, I think I have another set of them. It came the way you see it with the unfluted cyl.

You should recognize that cost of goods is not always a detrminant of market price - usualy it's what the traffic will bear.
I shoot both the 327 PC JM version and the 627 nwith 5 inch barrels. I use them in the normal pistol gamnes with light 38 Special loads. The 327 comes back on target a bit faster than the heavier 627. I would hate to shoot full power loads through the 327.

I got my 4" 627-5 back from the 'smith just yesterday after waiting for it to be moonclipped. I also had a forged grooved .265" trigger fitted. I really like the look and feel of the "normal" contour 4" barrel. I don't like slab sided barrels and anything longer feels too cumbersome. At first I was not going to have this moonclipped but after a disastrous performance using Maxfire speedloaders I realized I had to go the moonclip route. I don't recall ever seeing another -5 with this same barrel configuration around here but I know they are available.

Hmmmm, 627... seems like I have one of those:

Like epj, the 4" 627 Pro is my favorite - but that 2 5/8" PC627 is catching up. The 'perfect trigger' lighter. smoother, and pops all primers, 5" JM PC627 V-Comp is nice - but, sadly, a #3 here.

One fault: moonclips. Sure, their spindly legs & thin clips don't load as fast as the 625JM and it's 'clipped .45 ACP's, but they spoil you for manual loading - which seems like a new career now. The 627 Pro is the bargain!
