Are any of you lucky enough to having some other family member cook Sunday, or are you stuck with the cooking, as usual?

I enjoy cooking and having the children, grands and great grands over, so after church, I will cook for all of them. It is a great time with fresh corn, tomatoes, cantaloupes and other goodies in abundant supply. Probably the easiest meat is to fry up some yard birds, which they all love.

Happy Father's Day to all!

I'm gonna grill a steak for myself. My sister will cook for Dad and BinL. The wife will be with her pops. Looks like it's my house.

None of us will be doing the cooking this weekend.

Dad will be having his 81st BD on the 21st and wants to celebrate FD and his BD the same day. He has always hated anyone doing anything for him out of the norm for his birthday.

Mom is having her 82nd BD Saturday. Collectively between myself and 5 siblings we will be spending about $5K this weekend. Most of it will be spent on mom and upgrades to her house. Dad just wants the most expensive steak on Ruth's Chris menu, his way of paying homage to his friend Ruth Fertel, who helped him as a young insurance salesman.

Our family (kids, grandkids, etc.) live in Maryland. So, we will be running down today and gearing up to pig-out Sunday after church! Cooking - nah, I just sit back, work up the grandkids, listen to the daughter tell me to quit working them up (pay back is hell) and sit back and watch!

As I'm a bachelor this weekend, I can have anything the fine dining Establishment,(KFC, BK, or Wendie's) I choose to give my business to, is serving. :)

Outback Steakhouse for us. My 91 yo father, myself,my wife and daughter.

A nice 16oz NY strip and a tall Fosters for me.

I consider myself blessed to still have my Father at my 65 years.

I wish all our fathers a wonderful day, however they choose to spend it.

I'm sorta ,cooking. I've been experimenting on making ribs for several years and may have got it right a couple of weeks ago. Made up a BBQ sauce (orange-habanero) that is fantastic. I have a tri-tip marinating in it now for later tonite. Friends were over and raved about it==so much that one of them "volunteered" me to cook ribs for the women's writing club in the County (I got out of that!).

Right now, I am slow cooking my ribs for tomorrow. After five hours, they'll be done. Not fall off the bone tender but you can literally cut them with a sheet of notebook paper. That way, you can turn them and pick them up. They'll be slatheredwith sauce and the wife will glaze them just before serving. Fresh corn and home-made slaw. Green apple crisp with apples from here in the Apple Capital of the World, Washington State! Then, a new episode of True Blood (Game of Thrones would be better).

Of course, we'll go shooting in the AM. The local "pusher" had a new fix for me. We walked in and they had just taken in a nickel plated Escort, with pouch, tools and box. Looks never fired. I also have a Second Model 38 S & W single action to try out.

I'm going to cook some fried chicken like my West Texas Momma used to(still not as good but close:)) and make real mashed taters and skillet milk gravy for my lovely wife and I, and she's making me a decadent German chocolate cake.

I love to cook and it's a pleasure to make something yummy for us. Oh yeah, I might invite my daughter and grandbaby over too.:D

Happy Father's day to all of you tomorrow!

My wife made us homemade pepparoni pizza tonight.
I had a can of anchovies in the cupboard so I had them on my part of the
pie. Been a while since I managed to have that.
Got a t-shirt out of some mysterious collaboration arranged by my wife and possibly involving a kid or two.

Both the kids who are grown and gone called today.
The son home from college suggested going fishing but then
had a migraine hit.

All in all, a good day for me.

As usual I did the cooking. Not a special menu planned, just some blackened catfish fillets and steamed carrots with some wheat rolls and home churned butter.
