Who Is Still Hoarding?

Tick-tock

I calculate my stock by time, at 60 rounds per minute. That's 3,600 rounds per hour.

How many days' supply should a shooter keep at hand?

Hoarding? I don't hoard. I simply gather a substantial, strategic ammo supply that I can use as a later date to suit whatever needs I see fit, such as barter.... Wait, where's that dictionary.....

"Hoarding" may be a civic virtue.

By golly, now I like that one. I think I'll run that one by my wife next time we are at Wally's and I detour by the ammo counter. Maybe that one will keep her from rolling her eyes when I buy that 100 pack of .45 hardball. Don't you reckon?:D

If what some of you are calling hoarding then I have a monthly hoarding shooting habit that I'm addited to.

I get a lot of my ammo in CA and it will become harder to get it next year when we have to show ID and give a thumbprint to get it.

Given that and the fact that Walmart is almost always out, I've turned hoarding into a science and a research program. :) Timing is everything.

Even though they now limit purchases to six boxes, I've managed recently to walk out with 3000 rounds of 9mm on one trip and 4000 rounds of 22LR on another trip.

One morning I was loading up on 550 Round boxes of 22 and when I only decided to take 10 boxes, the guy behind me took all the rest. It turned out he was a local gun shop owner and gets his ammo at Wally. A better deal for him than his wholesaler. It's really funny because I've had people try to say that Wally world ammo was inferior, not realizing that what they get at their local shop may have come from there.

It's funny how it comes in spurts too. 22LR is now scarce, 38 is non-existant, 40 is coming on strong and 45 is hit and miss. A while back 22LR was everywhere. Some Walmarts have the 250 round boxes and some have the 50 round or 100 round boxes.

I never really did get into the hoarding but I sure did buy when I found it. Much more than I did when one could walk into Wal-Mart and stare at the well-stocked ammo case all the while wondering, "Should I get a couple of 9mm Value Packs at $10.96 each or a couple of .45 Value Packs at $19.96 each?"

I am still kicking myself badly for passing over 4 .380 Value Packs I saw at Wal-Mart last week as my LCP is due in from a distributor on Wednesday. I was with the family though and didn't want to catch hell from the Mrs. although I think she may have understood, I just didn't want to bother with an explanation.

Back to kicking myself,
Scott

Scott,

I make that mistake too. If they have it in the case I tend to think, oh, no problem, there it is, there's no shortage. If it's not in the case it's, uh oh, I'll never see it again! Sheesh.

We have a BINGO!!! No better explanation exists my good man.

Hey all you hoarders, what do you tell the fire dept when they show up,cause i sure wouldn't want to come to my house or any other's house where a lot of ammo hoarding going on.

I don't hoard either, unless i have less than 20,000 rounds then it's back to the web sites and stores. My thing isn't range ammo,it's carry ammo i'm in to.If i want cheapo range stuff all i need to do is go to work(walmart gun counter)I have been spending(hoarding) at least $150.00 a month in carry ammo for the last 2 years and will continue to do so until i run out of money or my wife runs out on me. :)

I don't hoard, but I place my orders (almost always on line) well in advance of when I expect I'll really need the stuff. Allowing 2 -3 months for delivery has worked out reasonably well for me.

It hit me yesterday as a sickness. I just travelled 120 mile for dental surgery and was in the chair for 4 hours. After travelling back to Atlanta I was needless to say.........exausted. While travellig up the interstate I realized that a Super Walmert was coming up a few exits. All I wanted to do was get home and crash on the couch but the ammo tractor beam took hold of the Volvo and drew me into Super walmart in search of bulk .22. After arriving the man at the counter said they got in a shipment "yesterday' and the shelves were bare. I looked under the shelf marked "Federal .22" and low and behold I saw in the back of the shelf a few bricks at the back. I said "I'll take 3". He pulled them out and saw they had 4 more. A heat wave surged through my body and I said "I'll take them all". He gave me a congradulatory smile and told me that there is no scheduled delivery on ammo. It just comes in at anytime. I have to go back tomorrow for another round of surgery.........but I probably stop by the Superstore to see what they have.....

Oh man.......this is bad.......it's a sickness and I am infected.

Different spin

I've been doing the opposite, hoarding guns and not buying hardly any ammo.

So I have lots of handguns and almost nothing to shoot out of them!

I wanted to test fire 4 new .38 and .357 revolvers and had to split a box among all of them........time to start stocking up I guess!

If it makes you feel better.........I jump from guns to ammo frequently......truth be told I need more ammo than guns but I admit it's a sickness either way

It is stories of such selfless dedication and dogged persistence in the face of hardship that make me proud to be an American!

Where'd you say that Super WM is?
