Who is your favorite Sherlock Holmes?

The original owner (Thomas Korneal)probably laid out a whole buck for this in 1950. I paid 8.00 in 2000

FWIW this is the real heroin/cocaine addicted Holmes (Just like Johnny Lee Miller.)

I guess I missed this the first time around. But since its been brought back up.......
I'm a child of the 50s. As such I watched a lot of TV growing up. During the 60s, Local stations filled time with movies from the 30s, 40s and 50s. Especially on weekends. That's where I first met Holmes as portrayed by Basil Rathbone. When Holmes is mentioned, that's the face I see. ;)

I strongly prefer Peter Cushing as Holmes. Having typed that I also strongly prefer David Burke, the first Watson in Brett series Sherlock Holmes.

Mr. Cushing was less "over-the-top" than either Mssrs. Rathbone or Brett. Late Victorian middle and upper-middle class "men of trade" I have always believed were reticent almost to extreme. Histrionics, to my mind, would not have been a trait of Holmes or Watson's.

Earlier video actors portraying Holmes I have not viewed, so I cannot comment on any of these portrayals.

According to my inflation calculator, $1.00 in 1950 money would be $10.35 in 2018 currency.....so you still have a bargain!!

Best Regards, Les
