Retired to South Carolina and loving it!
OK. I've been shooting again a few times lately and two guns went every time. The 8X357 and 642. Both are sweet.

So, I can't help myself, but feel the need to post this thread to see if I am alone out here in this wide wide world of shooting.

Who else likes these wheelguns?

One request please, this thread is for the fun of these shooters, and pics are encourged!

Here is a pic of both:

And here is a previous pic of where we were, with the 16" .45 Colt in the foreground. Our range is down the brown dirt road behind the squirrel head, with another foothill for a backstop. This pic was taken after the "recent" Dobbins fire, before the meadows started growing back. It is nice and quiet here, and will be prettier after the Spring growth has a chance. I should have newer pics then.

Did you say you like x8 shooters?

And, who could forget a .22LR x8, my 5" 63? Of course, the 4" x10 617 is really a x5...x2, of course!

Okay, the .22s aren't .357Ms, but neither are my 627s... they are posers. In my use, they launch long cased .38s - from moonclips. Fun - as I like it.

PS I have a 642, too - my pocket protector - definitely not a plinker like the above revolvers!

I've been a fan of six-shooters for decades, but now the 7-shooters and 8-shooters have taken over.

In competition, you don't give up all that much to the bottomfeeders, especially with an eight-shooter that's moon clip equipped.

I don't have any 7, 8, or 10 shooters but I do have a pre 36 5 shooter.

The 8 shot, 357 Magnum revolvers are among my favorite S&W firearms.

In the 1996 Lew Horton commissioned S&W to produce the first 8 shot 357 magnum revolver. This revolver debuted at the 1997 SHOT Show. Only 300 were to ever be produced. These revolvers were all sold out by the spring of 1997.

I had originally wanted to get serial number 357 for myself when I saw the revolver. Since the run was only going to be of 300 and never to be done again, I had LH ship me serial number 27. It is in the top left of this 8 shot group photo. I changed out the original factory supplied grips for some Hogues and put a set of tritium night sights on it.

This particular Distributor Exclusive offering sold so fast that Lew Horton decided to do a second run of 300 pieces. These were manufactured in the fall of 1997. LH called me and asked if I still wanted number 357. I told them yes. It is in the top right of the above group photo. Number 357 remains in factory original configuration.

Here is a set of one of each carbon steel 8 shot 357 magnum revolvers ever produced. These were manufactured over the last ten years. All 6 guns have the same serial number.

I need to photograph my Night Guard. Here are some images I took at the SHOT Show.

I will take the blued 4" 8 x 357 . I am not an authority but I think Bill Jordan would have approved .

so many 8-shot wheelies, so little money

Lets not forget the UDR.

I love this one. 8 rounds of 357 in a sweet shooting revolver; what's not to like.

I am not a 357 Mag kind of guy... I much prefer a 45 ACP, or a 44 Mag...

BUT even I must admit, an eight shot 357 Mag revolver...

With the round count of a 1911, and the reliability of a revolver....

Don't own an 8 shooter but my favorite handgun is my 5 shooter model 696, .44 special. Whenever possible, this is my companion. Wish ammo prices were lower as this gun can shoot.

Recently picked up another five shooter from John Ross:

I'm fine with eight shooters, have a few, fine with five shooters though I have none-I just can't warm up to the notion of seven shooters.I'd rather have a six.
