Academy doesnt have any and wont be getting them anytime soon.

Mcbrides wants 489.00

Other local gun shops want 489.00

I remember seeing a website that had them for 419 for non A1, so I assume the A1 they would sell for 439 or so.

dont know if you have a sportsmans warehouse but they had them for 399

dang, closes one is NM... Thats a killer deal though.

Hey Belt FED, do you think your Ti can will fit over the stock threads?

ya i made it to fit the 1/2-28 thread so it screws right on

larry's pistol and pawn has them for $399. They charged me $15 for shipping my last rifle and I had to pay $40 to my local FFL for the transfer. Being in Texas, and them being wherever they are, I didn't have to pay Texas' sales tax on the rifle. That will still beat out the $489 + 8.025% sales tax. Also, it took less than a week from the time I ordered to the time it was in my hand.

wow 40 bucks for a transfer.. glad i live in tn.

ya ive never been charged more than 10 bucks plus the 10 for the transfer... go local most guys are willing to help because they have to do so many transfers a year to maintain their ffl

Benton Shooters - Benton, TN. $439.

My local gun club charges $40 for transfer. I try to purchase from my local club but he couldn't get a 15-22 in a reasonable time. Not sure what it is... but the 15-22 is a must have...15-22-Crack ;)

gander mt charges $75 for a transfer so don't feel bad about $40. i agree that it's highway robbery either way.

here in Houston, most shops charge about $40.

I had a fellow motorcyclist that did it for about $25, but he moved and hasn't updated his license with the ATF.

There are some others that will do it for less than $40, but they aren't conveniently located. It sucks when you live in a place that sometimes can take 1 hr to go 13 miles. In those situations, spending the extra $15-$20 is generally worth it.

 That is robbery to make a two minute phone call to NICS. Some dealers charge high to discourage purchases from sources other than their store. I think some stores actually charge customers that buy guns from them for the call.

There are lists of dealers in each state that will do the transfer on sites like Gun Broker.

Where in Tx are you, I have a local dealer that only charges $20 and for members they charge $10 for transfer, close to Waco.

I called S&W today about this A1 and was told they will not be released till mid-2010. Have some people already gotten theirs and how or why did S&W say no release till mid-year ?

Maybe the department you talked to is the last to know actual date of A1 release?

Try this link to find a local FFL with a more competitive transfer fee:

Find An FFL - FFL Dealer Locator

Note: I've never used anyone on this link. My local gun shop in Austin, TX also charges $40.00 per transfer. If you use anyone on this list, please write back and let us know how things worked out.

Best of luck,

Dave
