Why did you buy an M&P pistol?

I love guns. I have several and will probably attain several more. I am not necessary a brand loyalist. Still, I have an M&P for a specific reason. I teach self defense as well as NRA classes. I feel the M&P is a great learning tool and is the best striker fired gun on the market.

So, why did you get one?

Because I didn't want a Glock. I also wanted something I could put in students hands for Pistol 101 that would be very manageable for first timers after .22.

Add to that it fits me like a glove and want to have a crack at IDPA.

I got one because I finally felt it was time to break down and get plastic pistol to see what all the hubbub was over. I was in the market for a Glock 21 but the M&P45 with the small backstrap fit in my small hands much better than anything else, the S&W fanbois are not as rabidly annoying as the Glock fanbois, and it's not as ugly as the Glock.

I had a buddy needing money and offered me a NIB 40 F/S for $450 with 5 mags, a Bullard Dual Carry holster and 500 rds of ammo, when I carried it to the range, I was sold. I have 3 now, wife claims one, but we all know how that goes.

I bought mine because it felt great in my hands and I was looking for another carry gun. I bought it despite of the creepy trigger. I learned to deal with the trigger and bought a full size for the range.

What sold me was the grip. It just felt more comfortable in my hands than any other pistol I looked at, and I liked the interchangeable palmswell grips.

The guy at the counter talked me into it. Was between Glock, Springfield and S&W and being a noob I took the advice of someone who knew a lot more than me and pulled the trigger (yep) on the M&P 40c.

I had a G21 and it was harder to conceal during summer. The M&P45fs was thinner a bit and had a shorter grip. In hind sight i probably would have done better with a G30 but for some reason at the time i just didnt think of it. Anyway, no complaints about the M&P

The local cop shop was dumping used M&P 45s for $380 with box/3 mags/3 backstraps. They also has three 14rd mags on the shelf for $24.95. Bought the mags, forgot it was a sale so they rung up at $21.21 each, went back two days later to snag the 45.

$480 out the door for six mags and gun sounded like too good a deal chance to not give it a try.

I got my M&P40c because my brother bought a Shield, & he sold me his 40c for $325 with maybe 100 rds down the pipe. But it does fit my hand better than the Glocks I've carried for 20+ years. But I have to admit, until the Shield came out, I never sold & single M&P at work. But I'd sell at least 10 Glocks a week. GARY

Ergonomics, first and foremost. The gun is comfortable and fits my hand better than any other striker ive held. The performance and reliability don't hurt either!

I picked up an M&P40 replica CO2 bb gun last summer, after handling it for 5 mins I knew I had to get the real thing.

For me it was: aesthetics, reliability, versatility, ergonomics, warranty and price (no particular order).

Compared to the other "plastic" pistols, it just felt right.

I now have 3 of them.... :-)

I had nothing to lose in trying out the 40C at the pricepoint I paid. Toyed for years with the idea of adding a Glock, just couldn't get past the looks and ergos.

I have guns that cost much more and so far have been worth the additional cost, but $ for $ I haven't found anything else that can compete with the M&P line for value, performance, and reliability.

I got my first M&P because of feel (like almost everyone else has posted:D). I bought the next 2 because of the performance of the first.

I *liked* the trigger pull. It works for me. And that it felt good in my hands didn't hurt, nor that fact that it's not ugly.

Ergonomics, and it works as well as a Glock in all other respects. Install a better trigger and you're a winner. I love my M&P45 much better than a G21, especially with the FSS trigger.

I got hooked with the Shield when I was looking for a small carry pistol. Seemed natural to get the FS, and then the .22 :).

M&P9 fs was my first gun. I fondled a lot of guns at my LGS and really liked how the M&P fit my hand. I came in one day and they had a used one for $400 with 3 mags and I bought it.
