Why are my 357 Mags hard to extract??

In my experience, .357 cases loaded to the volocity of .38 loads are more accurate then the comparable .38 load.

Which to me means, what the heck is the point of shooting .38s from a .357?

Since I have a thousand or so pieces of .38 brass, should I shoot them out of my derringer or maybe use them in my M66-2 too?

Besides, I shoot .38s faster (1270 fps with a 165 gr 358429 without using SR 4756 to do it) than what a lot of people shoot .357s, so why wouldn't .38s do what I want them to do?

yuo also may want to polish the cylinders. I use a 22cl bore brush wrapped tight with patches and commet. Use drill on low RPMs and they will look like a mirror. And dont use a SS bore brush. They should be out lawed

Soemtimes I just like to shoot 38's. I have J frames that they fit it plus my 686. I would rather shoot 38's or 38 +p out of my M 60.
Probably all started back when buying ammo the 38's were a lot cheaper than magnums. Didn't hurt the wallet or the hand.

So I believe that they have a place in the world.

I've had extraction problems with Blue Dot in mid-range loads, 357, according to the book that were supposed to be okay. Stopped using Blue Dot in 357 years ago.

Never had a problem in 41Mag. My favorite Blue Dot load with jacketed bullets is 13.5 gr of BD and the Hornady 210gr bullet.

Never liked Blue dot, I have always had good luck with Unique and Winchester 231.

I just read a big article in a recent Handloader magazine that was about the new formulation of Blue Dot. It suggested backing off any old loads and list loads by as much as a half grain. New data is coming...supposedly.

We chronoed some 44mag loads of a friends last weekend. He had old loads from the old powder and some from the new and improved bottle. The new powders loads were hotter. A good bit hotter. So what used to be a midrange load for him had turned into a pretty hot max!

Sorry, this is off topic but yall talking about spikey loads with Blue Dot triggered my memory.

I wonder when that was supposed to be? I think there was one not too long after it was introduced, but I'm not aware of any more.

It would be kinda nice for someone to mention a cut off date for "new" vs "old", if there is one.

That was the tone of the article. The lack of published info only rumors and experiments by other shooters. I'll look for the article and post some info.

I've Been using Red Dot lately and I think it's a lot better than Blue Dot ever was in 38 and 357.
