The new M&P pistols no longer have Novak sights on them. They now have a new style S&W manufactured sight. Anyone know why they dumped the Novak sights?

The new design allows for one handed slide racking. These days it's hard to sell anything that isn't tacticool.

I greatly dislike the Novak's and other "snag-free" designs because sometimes I want my gun to snag.

I must say that although I'm not a fan of the new sights styling, it's inset and serrated rear does provide an excellent sight picture. It's just not the coolest looking rear sight I have seen.

Can someone point me to somewhere i can see a pic of the new sights?

Did the drop the novaks on all of them, or just the M&Ps? The 1911 section appears to still be using novaks.

I am new to this forum or any forum for that matter. Please excuse any forum Faux Pas as nothing more than my ignorance. I have both the Novak style on my S&W 1911 and the newer sight on my M&P 45. Both of these have tritium inserts. I like the sight on the M&P a little better and am looking into changing the sights on my 1911. I like the ability to use my sights, if needed to charge the pistol with one hand.

I just picked up a 9c with the new style night sights and they are very nice! Lamps are Trijicon and they are very crisp and bright.

I guess the new style sights are a good thing, being able to reload with 1 arm disabled makes sense.

I prefer the original Novaks. The one-handed slide racking thing always seemed like an iffy proposition to me.

Yeah, I have always preferred something like Trijicons or Meprolights (and GI length guide rods). Hmmmm, I've never had to do it for real. I think I'll celebrate that by having a cold beer; my day off - I can do that. :)

And pre vs post Novaks. LOL geez yup.

I'm contemplating a 10-8 Performance rear sight but I must admit that the sight picture with the new factory rear sight is really great...hmmmm. What to do, what to do..

I have a 10-8 rear on my full size 9mm and I'm planning on getting one for my .45 full size also.
