Why Do I Do Everything

In 3's? I just finished painting a set of wheels. I painted 3 light coats of base coat. And 3 heavy coats of clear. They look fantastic! But I do everything in 3's! Why didn't I put four coats of base and just two coats of clear? Or two base and four clear?

Wifey says I have OCD? What ever that is. But I noticed about 10-15 years ago, my fixation with doing everything in 3's? At first I always told people, that since my lucky number was 3, that's the reason?

If I wash my shop towels, I do it 3 times. I want to make sure they're clean. But why not just twice? If I cook, I flip the burgers 3 times. Not twice. If I stir soups, it do it three times each time. If I hand wash my Hot Rod, I wash it 3 times and rinse it 3 times. If I clean my guns, I oil them 3 times, before I put them away. If I wash my hands, I soap them up, 3 times. Three light pumps of hand soap. If I blow my nose, I do it three times.

I catch myself doing it and tell myself to do whatever it is I'm doing to just once or twice. But then I keep going to my magic number, you guessed it, number 3.

Why do I do everything in 3's? Why do I do everything in 3's, why do I do everything in 3's?

But 3 is my lucky number, after all!

I guess I'm just goofy!!! See that? Three exclamation marks!!!

I noticed that none of the posters stated the obvious-you may simply be a complete ding-a-ling.

Of course there are probably other members of this Forum who wash their hands three times or maybe more. But it has nothing to do with the number-rather they simply don't recall doing the first two washings.

You obviously have a multiple personality situation & no one in their right mind wants to be left out (right mind - left out, not a coincidence)

Each of you must sit down & talk this out with yourselves. The objective is to establish a leader. If you all are gonna live together in the same head, someone must lead & the rest follow (it's called pecking order)
