Why do I need more than one 30 rnd magazine?

My military friends tell me that some of the old metal mags were almost a one time use item. .

Your military friends are wrong. I used the same half dozen 20 rd. Colt mags to shoot high power for a number of years. The finish had totally worn off and they had taken on a golden color. FWIW, they still work fine.

all my clips have managed not to kill anyone, why do we need more the one box of ammo?
why cant we do all our shooting with a 22. single shot rifle? MAN these nitwit media jerks
have us coming and going after this horrible event, the funeral motorcade for one of the hero
teachers rode right past my front door,i was very sad but i did not feel guilty at all,i did not
kill those innocent people, this evil creep did!

To the OP, I feel the same way that you do. Not that I feel others should feel that way, that's their choice, but I'm not one for a bunch of magazines.

As for when I go to the range, I personally enjoy taking a break and loading a magazine as I go. If I have everything loaded in advance, I go through ammo faster than I can afford it.

why does the gas tank on my truck hold more than a gallon, so I don't have to keep filling up, why do I have a bunch of magazine, so I don't have to keep filling them when I want to be shooting.

It probably too late to worry about it now though, if you don't already have a stack of them good luck finding any in the next 6-12 months.

I have often asked my self that same question op how many mags do i really need. My answer was really a simple one. All the Ranges around me charge by the hour for range time except 1 and its way out of the way. Its over 20 miles one way.

I sat down thought about how much time I waste reloading mags vs how much time I get to shoot. Thinking about that I bought accordingly. I like to have enough mags so I am not sitting there having to reload ever 5 mins.

At the same time I cant understand why some people have 20-30 mags of a given type. I am not criticizing them either, if having a backpack full of mags makes them happy who am I to tell them there wrong.

The Piers Morgans and the Dianne Feinsteins of the world always want to know "Why does anyone need a _________?"

Why do 2 people need a 3000 sq.ft. house when a 1500 ft. is plenty big? Why do you need an Escalade when a Blazer will do the job? Why do you need a V8, wouldn't a 6 be more responsible?

Because you want to. That's good enough for me. This is America, not some communist craphole...yet. As Mark Levin says, It's not the Bill of Needs, it's the Bill of Rights. If all you want is 1, that's OK with me. If you want 1,000, that's OK too. Neither answer is right or wrong.

I have been shooting the AR platform for a few decades now and I have always had a fair amount of mags handy. Like the others have stated they are devices that can fail. But the main reason is not that I am paranoid but I do not trust our politicians and if they decide I don't need something I happen to think I do I don't have to be impacted by their paranoia.

I Needed More For This.......

so I bought 5 20 rounder's for it yesterday. {I think the 42 rounder's are too awkward} I don't care what they think, or if they're scared of the way it looks, the Bill of Rights says I have a right to have a firearm, & this is the one I want, & this thread needs a picture!!

Having more than enough is ALWAYS better than NOT having enough. I can't tell you how many times I've been somewhere and someone asks to "borrow" X because they thought they had it, or the other guy was supposed to have it, or they thought they had enough. An ex-GF griped about the loading of the truck for the trip to the woods. Three days later she was very happy to have the stuff we had. Next time, she was all about making sure we had "everything" to be comfortable with no complaints. Barely getting it done isn't for me.....Go big or stay home............Just sayin'

To answer your question specifically, as it was asked; and from my point of view, the reason I would have more than one magazine for any weapon I own would be to immediately re-arm it, in the case that I had to use it.
