Why do we let lawyers be judges?

Have you noticed judges are almost NEVER former defense attorneys?
Judges have been referred to as "prosecutors in robes".
AFS

Not hardly.

Most were insurance defense attorneys. A close second would be prosecuting attorneys. Stepping up to a Judge position keeps a prosecuting attorney on the taxpayer payroll. The money is good, there are not expenses like it would be in private practice and the prestige is far better.

This post is NOT about the Second Amendment.

Here is a recent case not protecting the right to carry in New Jersey:

It contains this observation by the Judge:

IMHO, what Heller does or does not suggest does not really matter.
The CONSTITUTION, as plainly written, MANDATES a Right to "Bear" arms?

Duh.

Sometimes I think we should not let lawyers be judges.

"This post is NOT about the Second Amendment."

That statement turned out to be true.
I thought moving this thread here might focus the awareness and discussion on the 2nd Amendment importance of the case.
I was wrong.
Since it remains a general moaning about the politics of politics, we don't need it.

Political discussion is still a banned topic.
