Why I became an Apple (Mac)convert

MacBook Pro
iMac
iPad
Three AppleTVs
Two iPhones
Airport Extreme
iTunesMatch (Cloud music subscription $25/yr)

Why we became Mac users? Wife wandered into MacAuthority (Apple Store) at the shopping mall about three years ago. After a few minutes of playing with a MacBook Pro on the display station, she said she wanted it. I was against it because of price (happy DELL customer). Anyway... we bought it. Wife found the Mac to be very intuitive for her to use. That was the start of an expensive move to Apple products.

The biggest plus for us is how all these devices work reliably and seamlessly together, as well as delivering media entertainment throughout the home and on the road. Oh... and the Magic Mouse-- it's worth the price of admission.

My first computer in the mid 80's was an Apple IIC and have had Macs ever since - currently a G5 and a Macbook Pro. I have never had a single problem with an Apple computer - I can usually hang on to one for 8-10 years and the only reason to buy a new one is for software compatibility. I have never owned a windows based machine.

Good reasons

Though Microsoft has a terrible history of selling software that needed fixing when it came out of the box, there are some good reasons to want to stay with it. Windows 7 is actually pretty good. For many years the cadd software that I used was not made to run on Apple machines. However I admit that people in graphics have always leaned on Macs. They are good at what they do. To some extent it has to do with what you are using them for. I think some of those differences aren't as apparent now, but all of my software and extraneous hardware is made for MS and MACs are more expensive on my tight budget. My machines do all that I need them to. I'm glad there is a company like Apple to keep MS on their toes.

I'm no computer geek. I used to do everything - from school work to internet browsing at home - on a PC. Now, I'm on my second Macbook Pro and third iPhone. I also have an iPad that we share at home. I like how it's easy to sync everything through the home network and iCloud, don't need cables.

I purchased many PC's over the years, mostly Dells, got tired of the instability and crashes. Went with a Mac Mini. It takes up as much room on my desk as a medium size book. I've had zero problems, so I got an iPad, zero problems, just got an iPhone last week. They just work, and they work with each other. Yes they cost more, but I think they are cheaper in the long run. Plug them in and use them, no degree necessary.

A little secret.

I collect radios, went to purchase one off a gentleman who was relocating to Amsterdam, I bought one. On my way out the door he said why don't you buy this, I don't want to drag it back with me. I said I don't want it, he said yours for $5.00, I said throw it in my trunk. Actually works, just around as a novelty, 1986 Mac Plus, 1 MB RAM:)

The line in the B&W screen is caused by the camera.

boy, that brings back memories. I bought my first Mac somewhere around 1988, I think. It was an SE with no internal hard drive, two 3.5 inch floppy drives (one was for the OS disk, the other for storage). Bought expressly for taking to the field (I was stationed in Mainz with 8th ID). Great for keeping my battalion's TAC SOP updated, all the reports DISCOM and the DMMC wanted, as well as all the OPORDs and annexes. When I bought the 40 Mb external hard drive and added the 1Mb of RAM, thought I was in Heaven. :)

For me, it started with the Ipad, then the iPhone, the the iMac, never going back... :D, you never really know just how good it is till you start using...

I'm a computer and network geek since the days of sending "Hello" over a 300 baud dial up was considered the height of technology. Been an IBM, DOS, Windows guy ever since until......the iphone 5 found its way into my pocket. All I can say now is wow, I haven't been this impressed with technology since the Hello message 40 years ago. A Mac is soon to follow, as soon as this Lenovo ****s the bed.

and all your favorite Microsoft products come with it too!

I' m liking my wife's IPad, and taking a lot of grief for it, I might add.

Bought my first Mac in late '80s. Today in our household we have two MacBook Pros, Mac Pro tower, three iPhones, two iPads, two Apple TVs and two iPods. I keep all the software up to date, and try to replace every three years or so. I use no virus protection and haven't had a virus since probably early '90s. I have never owned a Windows machine, but my wife did at work and my daughter did in college. Both of them switched to Macs just as soon as they could! My next Mac may be the new 27" iMac. What an unbelievable machine.

I think that the iPad is the real game changer. I have only had mine for about a year and don't know what I would do without it. Everybody I know that has one feels the same way. I'm typing on it now! I read part of a novel on it last night.

After my home PC (HP) got a virus last fall, I got an iPad, love it. No virus software needed.

My company supplied Dell Latitude laptop is on its 3rd hard drive and just yesterday IT picked it up again because everything w a s S l o w i n g d o w n......

It drove me nuts.

The cause? It's a dual core processor.

Core one ran at 193 degrees Fahrenheit!!

Core two ran at 214 degrees Fahrenheit!!

Now I'm using an old loaner to set up my data.

I will NEVER buy anything but Apple products for home use.

Just wish my company would see the light.

AppleTV is one of the best $99 gadgets I've ever owned. Seems to be a well kept secret too.
