Gun lovin\' Hollywood Ca.
Tampa, Florida -- A woman was accidentally shot in a hotel bathroom after police say a gun fell out of another woman's holster in the next stall.

Tampa Police say 53-year-old Janifer Bliss was shot in the lower left thigh when the small caliber handgun hit the ground at the Clarion Hotel in Tampa.

Bliss was transported to Tampa General Hospital with minor injuries.

The handgun belongs to 56-year-old Debra Monce. Monce has a concealed weapons permit, but the case has still been referred to the State Attorney's Office to determine in any criminal charges are appropriate.

And how was that a specifically FLORIDA incident?

Now I wouldn't be surprised if this was picked up by large news networks and broadcast so everyone can see how dangerous guns are....

How many States???

I copied this post from another site. Not usually my thing but it is worth your attention. Pretty soon there will be no states left that are worth living in.

GUN Control via IRS Senate Bill SB-2099
Well, Boys and Girls, it has started
Senate Bill SB-2099 will require us to put on our 2009 1040 federal tax
form all handguns that you have or own. It may require fingerprints and
a tax of $50 per gun.
This bill was introduced on Feb. 24. This bill will become public
knowledge 30 days after it is voted into law. This is an amendment to
the Internal Revenue Act of 1986. This means that the Finance Committee
can pass this without the Senate voting on it at all.
The full text of the proposed amendment is on the U.S. Senate homepage,
U.S. Senate You can find the bill
by doing a search by the bill number, SB-2099.
You know who to call; I strongly suggest you do. Please send a copy of
this e-mail to every gun owner you know to help STOP this bill!!

You can view the text of this bill at:

How many are left to go Sip? If you don't find someplace you like you will be a man without a country.:D

Since I will one day be retiring to New Zealand, no problem...and I won't have the hassle of safeguarding a handgun in my house like here in America since in NZ, they keep them for you at the range...how convenient is that!

You might be right Dave.but you can do that here to.Come on it's only 2 hours further.Weathers always warm and the Gold Coast is 30 minutes away.LOL

Not true. It's about time this one died.

Believe me, you DO NOT want to come to Florida. I real good friend runs the local gun shop. I hang out there a lot. No offense to any elderly folks but there are lots and lots of people who have guns that shouldn't. They have no idea what they are buying, most have so much trouble pulling a slide back, then they look at the revolvers and end up with a who knows what. they shake when holding the gun, never practice, just load and go.

The CC weapons permit is a joke. There is no actual qualifying needed. Just sit through a 2 hr class on how to file the paper work, fire one shot (blanks can be used) sit back and wait for it in the mail.

Drop your gun in your purse and/or pocket and go to Wal Mart.

Sad but true from the GUNSHINE STATE:eek:

Florida is not only for the old. This has long been known as the State of the newly wed and the nearly dead.

As for a ccw being a joke, look at a person who buys a boat, if you can write a check and turn a key you are a ship captain and we don't even want to go to the dept. of motor vehicles.

Re:sb2099

According to the Google sources SB2099 is totally bogus. Goes back to 2000 and never really happened or was enacted.
Another false alarm.

And your point?

There should be a permanent thread on the top of each section (or at LEAST the 2A section) debunking that SB2009 rumor. It pops up way too often.

Include that god-forsaken "USA Today gun rights poll", from 2007, with that too please. Pops up on every forum I've ever been on at least once a week.

Because people mindlessly regurgitate garbage they are too lazy to verify. It would have taken the person posting less than a minute to check, instead of cluttering the forum with old, repetitive nonsense.

Not to mention the fact that it is utterly irrelevant to the OP for this thread.

AMICI,
Thanks for the complete displeasure of my post. Some of us do not spend much time roaming the net. Between my deployments defending my and YOUR freedoms, attending further education classes to beter myself and work I do not have too much spare time. I saw this, it was the first time I saw it and I shared it. A response of this is old irrelevant news would have been a bit more appropriate however you must be a keyboard cowboy that looks for opportunities to slam others who are not as much in the know about worldly things such as yourself.

Oh yeah, well let me tell you something OCD1, I've got some friends in their mid-eighties you better not mess with. Name one time an elderly person has accidently shot someone in Florida. Don't paint everybody in Florida with a broad brush as old and incompetent.

Kind of funny that you picked "Amici" for your board name...was "curmudgeon" taken?

I don't know if it's really laziness. I think it's more of if someone hasn't heard it before, they read it and think it's something legit. I don't cross reference a lot of the things people send me right away.

That's why I think a "rumor department" would be a good idea... and not even only for gun issues.

I said lots and lots of folks. Not everyone. So if you re read my post I did not "paint everyone" nor was it my intent. I am old and incompetent myself. Not 80 yet however. If it will make you feel any better there are probably far more "younger" people that also should not have guns.

I have lived here many, many years and the same holds true for Drivers License's. Just renew it by mail, no vision check, no driving test but heck it's OK to keep driving

Not checking incoming mail is one thing.

Posting these mindless "pass-this-one-to-everyone-you-know," Chicken Little mass-mailings without verifying IS laziness.

It is also irresponsible. If you had time to post it; you had time to check it. No excuses.
