Why is E12 stamped on a frame stop

Hi,

I recently looked at a Model 34, considering purchasing.

On the yoke frame stop just below the Mxxxxxx serial number is: E12 stamped into the frame.

It is quite clear that this was stamped into the frame after it was blued.

What does it represent?

It's a factory assembly or inspection code.

Thank both of you for responding and helping me out. I am concerned when i see something that i have not seen before. i was concerned that it may have indicated something undesirable about the gun.
