Ok, there are the 952’s, but isn’t that it?

Just been wondering why there were, (are,) “so many” double stack PC 9 mm’s, and no single stack offerings. Was it buyer demand, company sales requirements, or something else for not offering a single stack magazine PC 9 mm?

My 4513tsw is great but doesn’t come close to my other 4513 based PC examples. I don’t have a 3913tsw, (yet ?,) but I can only imagine how nice a 3913 based PC pistol would be, or would have been.

Probably demand. At the time in question, the trend was toward the double stack 9mm configuration. The main thing that has changed that trend is the greater number of laws favoring concealed carry and the repressive silliness about standard capacity magazines making a 9+1 or so 9mm a reasonable choice if one cannot move.

Haha well I love all conversations about (real) S&W PC pistols but it makes me laugh when you say "oh well yeah, there is the 952 but..." :D The 952 is the flagship model of the entire semiautomatic PC pistol line and while we don't have the numbers, I might argue that they more more 952's than any other PC pistol model.

It's like saying "why didn't GM ever try to make a performance car? I mean they did the Corvette, sure, but..."

To answer the actual question... honestly, if I think too deeply about it, it just makes me sad. The PC was lightning in a bottle, it should have survived and there's no telling what truly amazing things might have been possible and could have been produced.

Single stack 9mm pistols were definitely out of favor in the 90's and early 2000's, the era of the PC. Not PC, but the 3906 was a heckuva gun but it didn't survive either. Even the 3904 should have done better but they are scarce too.

If we are all just saying "man, a 3913 PC would have been killer!" then heck yeah, I agree.

Well, actually I mentioned the 952’s because I realized that there were single stack PC 9 mm’s, and I didn’t want anyone to berate more for NOT mentioning them. Now I’m in trouble for mentioning them. 952’s are on my mind, and I was not belittling or dismissing them what so ever.
