Why there is an ammo shortage

I don't have much money, so I have just been searching online. I really think online you have a better chance finding the ammo you need at a decent price. Going to LGS isn't bad either.

But I have been searching, waiting for a good price. Found some 9mm for 28cents/round yesterday (1000 rounds), shipment got here today (NICE!). If I would've waited 1 hour, I found some 9mm for 20cents/round. I got too excited. :)

It's just to painful to witness... clearly folks are using Gun Broker to "flip" ammo. I've seen the CCI mini-mag 22lr (1600 ammo can) show up several times, as well as Blazer 9mm and WWB... which is what wally world carries.

The CCI mini-mags, sold for $245.00 dollar... I only paid 109 shipped from the original source.

I have not seen any 9mm (1000) rounds sell for less then $400-425 dollars... and thats down right criminal ;)

The US Military does not use 40 S&W, not in any significant quantity anyway.

The huge ammo purchasing referred to was for 40 S&W.

Now, who uses that...?

DHS uses .40 - Border Patrol, ICE and a lot of others. My neighbor is BP and he gets an allotment of boxes of Federal HST & Gold Dots every month or so for 'training' Sometimes it's Ranger-T.
I see a lot of this white boxed ammo being re-sold at local garage sales, flea market tables and gun shows for extra cash. At the local range, over on the closed area the BP/ICE uses, the ground is littered with nickle empties with the familiar head stamp.

OK, blame me. Last night we finally got around to listening to the voice mail and my mother needed something from Wallyworld. It was 10:00 and there was nothing on TV except that stupid Sherlock Holmes thing. So I told my wife I'd drive her there right now. So off we went. And after buying what we'd gone for, I decided to enter the freak show part and look at their ammo case. It was locked. No one at the store knew who had the key, if anyone. But there on the floor were cases just brought out from the back room! I was third in line. :D The two guys in front of me were normal guys. Then the two behind us were pretty much hillbillies, but having a good time. Then along came a nice couple (she was a babe of the first order). So the one guy who apparently could also be a cashier said he could sell the ammo he had out, but only 3 boxes to a customer.

My wife counted, too. The guys behind me wanted 12 gauge, as I did. But in the half hour we burned, no one came up with the key. So I had enough time invested and my wife bought 3 boxes of .223. Oh, she doesn't own one and neither do I! :D:D But the son's both do. I should have bought 3 myself, but we finally gave up and left. So I'm undecided if I should give them away or just sell them at the next gun show.

And during the painful wait for the key, one of the guys in front of me asked where all the 550 packs of 22s went. So I just said "they're all in my basement". :D So at least now I've got 60 rounds of .223. And I don't feel bad about it at all. I'm more worthy than those who weren't hanging out at Wallyworld after 10:00 PM.

And if you tell me where you bought this ammo and where I can find .20 cents per round 9mm I'll go buy as much as they have!! :D

I am part of the problem... :o

I found brand new MM&P AR-15s for $750 (I posted about this a couple days ago) and I bought the two I was allowed to buy. I don't want two AR's, but at that price I know I can flip one for double the price and keep one for free.

I bought all the .22 ammo I found on the shelf at the local Fleet Farm when I found it for $1.69 a box. I have thousands of rounds of .22 already, but it's really hard to find now so if I find some I'm buying it.

I ordered 6 BX-25 mags from Ruger. I don't want the mags, but they are selling for $80 - $100 each on GB! I will keep two and sell the rest for a 300% profit.

Before this thing calms down we need to see people stop paying the inflated prices for guns, ammo and magazines.

People are going to sell at whatever price others are willing to pay.

Well, they may not be black ones but the helicopters fly over my house every hour of the day and night. Maybe it is because I live in the flight path for the Marine's New River Air Station (MCAS-H New River), here in Jacksonville, NC.

same here in Upstate New York

I have talked to both Walmart and Dicks Sporting Goods corporate offices today and both have told me that they have not ordered any ammo since the shooting at Sandy Hook. They said that they weren't either until they find out what obama is going to do. It could be a while. Same goes for rifles

This is the same thing I am being told here in Upstate New York.
Why is it some deranged fool goes into a school and kills innocent children and we have to pay the price to have our gun rights infringed.
