Wich year of build has my S&W?

Hello from te Netherlands/Europe,


I should like to know more about my revolver:


1. the model is 19-4
2. Serial number is 56K2202
3. cal .357 Magnum
4. Barrel length is 6¨
5. adjustable rearsight surrounded with a withe line.


The revolver is in my possesion since Feb 2005 and was the first gun I possesed. I'm 71 years old now and still shooting with her doing Service pistol and Military pistol games with it after years of IPSC with a CZ 9mm pistol and a semi auto Winchester shotgun.

So I will thank you guys very much and wish you all goods.

56K numbers were used in 1979. The dash 4 version of the Model 19 was introduced in 1977.

Welkom naar de Forum! You have a very nice K-frame S&W Model 19-4 .357 Combat Magnum from 1979, and you have obviously taken good care of it. The 19-4 was the last Model 19 to have a pinned barrel and cylinder counterbore (recessed cylinder holes)- those features were eliminated in 1982 with the 19-5. Your 6" barrel (introduced by S&W on the Model 19-2 in 1963) has a Patridge front sight, and the target stocks are very nice (probably Goncalo Alves wood). Hope this helps. Genieten!
