I see lots of jokes and references to what people have done during the isolation. My wife literally wrote a book.

When she was in HS she played on a basketball team that won 132 consecutive games, and 5 consecutive
state championships. She played in exactly 100 games of the streak, and on 4 of the championship teams.
She kept a great scrapbook, with detailed notes about many of the games. She was MVP in the State
Tournament her last 3years.

The Taylor County Girls BB team got to be pretty big news in Middle Georgia sports, getting extensive
coverage in the Macon newspaper, and pretty good coverage in the Atlanta Journal/Constitution. The years
of the streak stretched from the very last game of the 66-67 season, through late in the 71-72 season.

Nearly 50 years later, the streak still ranks #1 among Georgia sports teams, and I believe #4 nationally.
The coach was elected to the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame about 10 years ago. He coached both boys and girls
his first 7 years, then only girls his last 5. He won 7 total state titles in 12 years. Ironically, he isn’t eligible
for the Coaches HofF, because one of the criteria is that one must coach for 20 years. My wife, who went on to
play in Jr College, then at UGA, is nominated to the State Sports HofF, but hasn’t been selected. She was Scholar Athlete
of the year at UGA her senior year, and her HS uniform is in a display honoring women’s sports at the Ga Sports HoF in Macon.

Anyhow, she has been threatening to write the book for some time. She got started right after Labor Day
and finished the first draft after Christmas. Our daughter is a college English professor, and she has been
helping with the editing process during her Christmas break. That has been interesting, to say the least.

She hopes to be ready to find a publisher soon. I think she intends to self-publish rather than traditional publishing.

Edit to add: Mr. Mark, I never knew you were married to somebody famous. I mean, I'm not surprised at all, I just never knew, lol.

I even remember when women played, 6 lady (3 on defense and 3 on offense) half-court basketball. I was telling some of my son’s friends at school and they looked at me like I was crazy.

There were in Ohio leagues for smaller schools in the 50's and early 60's that were 7 man football. This was in pre helmet days, let alone mouth guards, and a friend got all his teeth knocked out in 10th grade! (the second game he played in!)

Ivan

Ivan my son played 8 man at a smaller school before he transferred. They play 7 on 7 (which is HUGE now among all the major football high schools) all spring and summer then regular 11 man in the fall/winter.

I have actually gotten to enjoy the 7 on 7 games. They have huge camps and tournaments where dozens of teams from all over the country participate.

There is nothing new under the sun (but they do wear helmets and mouthpieces!).

I would be first in line to buy this! I love any sports story. I even remember when women played, 6 lady (3 on defense and 3 on offense) half-court basketball. I was telling some of my son’s friends at school and they looked at me like I was crazy.

Bunny played two years half court 3 on 3 in HS, and two years of “rover rule,” where two players from each team played full court, crossing the center line. Her entire college career was regular 5 on 5 full-court.

She was recruited out ofHS by the All American Redheads, a professional women’s team that played exhibition games against men, usually fund raisers, or against a college or HS men’s faculty team. Ironically, she was a natural flaming redhead. She tried out with them, but her heart was set on college.

That little granddaughter does not need to be feeding cows and riding around on the side by side—she needs to be shooting free throws and practicing her head fakes. Those women in the WNBA make real money now, plus it beats punching cows, ask Iggy (well anything beats punching cows)!

Congratulations to her. My High School had no womens sports until title 9, just internal gymnastics.

Nothing wrong with punching cows if they are hers. Tough way to get ahead if they are someone elses. In my area I know a few women that hire out as night calvers. It is a decent winter job if you're tough enough.

When she publishes, let us know. I'd buy a couple copies for my granddaughters.

Ah, I wouldn't say that.:D:) I grew up as a bovine maintenance technician and after 20 years away from the ranch, went back for another 20 years. Still do some of the administrative work involved in ranching..

Horses and cows are simple and honest, not like the crop two legged critters taking over the country today.

You learn to read horses and cows and I would trust them a heck of a lot further than any person today.

We produced and still do over a million quarter pounders a year.

Kinda mundane, but I'm proud of my contribution to this country
