Hi y'all,
I'm the proud new owner of a Mod 3000 police gun with park finish, 18" barrel and wood stocks.

I'm curious if a barrel from a model 1000 shotgun will fit on a model 3000.

Another newb question: are the semi-auto 1000 barrels the same as those on the pump version of the 1000?

Thanks in advance for the replies.

PS: anyone have a recent line on a +2 mag extension?

Thanks,
D

The 1000 barrel will fit. I put a 1000T trap barrel on a 3000 action. Choate made 2 shell extensions at one time but not at present. Check on line auction sites. the extension must be for S&W models, not Mossberg or Remington.

From a couple of sites with barrels for sale, it looks as if the Model 1000 pump gun and the Model 3000 share the same barrels.

The semi-auto versions seem to be listed separately so I am guessing that these are different.

Thanks,
D

I was not clear in my previous post. The barrel of a model 1000 pump will fit a 3000 pump. Also, the barrel of a model 1000 semi-auto will fit a 3000 pump action, this is the scenario that I posted about.

It can be confusing. Mossberg sold the same shotgun. S&W and Mossberg bought these shotguns from Howa of Japan. The early pump guns were called model 1000 but are identical to model 3000 pumps. A model 1000 pump barrel is identical to a 3000 pump barrel.

As gunfish said, the 1000 pump and 3000 pump are the same.
The 1000 semi-auto barrels are different in that the barrel ring is wider and the barrel has ports to operate the gas system. I have never tried fitting a SA barrel to a pump gun as gunfish did.
