Just like the title says...... Will a .40 S&W 2.0 barrel work in the new 10mm 2.0 ? And would it be a drop in? I understand that spring weight may have to be adjusted depending on load.

I picked up a M&P 2.0 10 mm (4") and have a lot of 40 S&W ammo.

Thoughts?

Don't know about the barrel but I saw a video where a guy fired 40SW ammo using the stock M&P 10mm. Might have been on the other "S" forum.

Don't really want to go down that road. Glock shooters will tell you that they do it all time, but I'm not really looking to rely on the extractor only sort of carrying the .40 cartridge. Maybe it can, maybe it can't.

The video he's referring to was the 10mm M&P review and range testing done by that guy on The Firearms Channel.

Essentially he loaded up a 10mm M&P mag alternating 10mm and 40 cartridges one after the other. Total was 11 or 12rds, IIRC.

He fired all rounds with no issues, malfs, or hiccups.

If yourself or anyone else could send me or post a link to that video, I would appreciate it. I can't find it.(assuming you are referencing MAC)

Thanks.

ETE: Also, what is the other "S" forum? (again, a PM is fine if required)

ETA #2: S&W customer service was zero help. "We only manufacturer the firearm, we offer no technical service, blah, blah, blah. "

My gut says no. The 10 is built of the .45ACP frame/slide. The 40 is the slightly smaller 9/357/40 frame/slide. Same with magazines I believe. A 40 S&W mag won't fit properly in the 10/45 frame, and the 10/45 won't fit at all in the 9/40/357 grip frame.

Most likely not.

The chamber section of the .40 barrel will probably be too short to fill the slide's ejection port and lockup correctly

However any of the custom barrel makers could manufacture a barrel that would work

It would just mean waiting for a open slot in their production schedule to machine one

I would probably go to Bar-Sto for something like this

Interesting.

If that's the case, I guess it's a waiting game until the aftermarket brings out a barrel that fits this frame.

5-seconds of google-fu later ( ;) ) and here ya go ... Meant TFB, not the TFC.

This is the YT link to the vid review and range session by the TFB dude. He starts talking about shooting 40S&W ammo in the gun at about the 11:45 sec. mark, and at some point after they cut to showing him shooting the gun at an indoor range. He loads the 10mm M&P mag with eleven cartridges, alternating between 40 and 10mm.

This shouldn't be surprising. 10mm Glock owners have been shooting 40 ammo out of their guns, using the factory 10mm mags, almost since the 40 was introduced as a cartridge in the early '90s.

Personally, I spent the coin years back for an aftermarket 40 barrel for my G29, but that's me.
