WILLIAMS FIRE SIGHT FIBER OPTIC SIGHTS

Hi Mike:

I was looking into the Williams Fire Sight a while back as a replacement for the stock, 3-dot sights from the factory on my S&W M&P 40C. My research yielded quite a few complaints about the Fire Sights - the tubes broke easily, they fell out of the sight assembly under recoil, etc. Then I heard about the Tru Glo TFO sights (TFO = Tritium Fiber Optic). This sight has the fiber optic rods, AND night sights. Yep, the best of both worlds. Here's the link:

They're kind of pricey (approx. $150.00), but I got lucky and bought a set from a fellow Forum member at an excellent price. The sights work very well. The front night sight isn't as bright as other comparable front night sights, but it is plenty bright enough for me. The rear sights have yellow colored inserts ("dots"), and they are designed to be dimmer than the front sight. I've included some photos so you can see what they look like. By the way, I had to have a gunsmith mount the sights for me as I couldn't get the factory sights to budge at all when I was trying to remove them.

I hope this helps.

Best of luck,

Dave

I have them on a M&P 9 and a Glock and I like them better than any other fiber active sight I have tried. My eye is drawn quickly to the front sight. My grandson uses them in competion and he also likes them. A police officer I shoot with thinks they are too bright so you may want to see if you can find someone who has a set.

Double O Dave

I may have goofed here as I didn't even look to see if Tru Glo made their TFO sights for the Shield. I was responding to your post to let you know about the Tru Glo TFOs and my satisfaction with them. I would suggest calling or emailing Tru Glo to see if a) they now make a TFO sight for the Shield, or b) if the TFO sights for the M&P would work on the Shield.

Good luck,

Dave
