I stood out in the front yard and took some pictures of a passing isolated thunderstorm and light show as it went by this evening. It quickly got pretty exhilarating when I started seeing lightning all around me. I called it quits and went inside when I could feel the static in the air.

We needed rain to help with the fires. We finally got some yesterday. Unfortunately, it was in the form of thunderstorms, resulting in some 3000+ lightning strikes. Hopefully none of those will produce any fires.

Great pictures! I never had much luck at catching lightning on film, much less in a bottle. It's like my lens was a static diffuser and no strikes fell in front of it.

BIG HELP!:confused::confused::confused:

Weather has not been friendly and is often hostile. We've had a couple of terrific storms and now I need a new roof due to hail. I haven't haven't had this happen around here in 69 years. And it seems that it is only going to get worse.

Later on, the Arby's in Moncks Corner (about 12 mile up the road) had a tornado that blew everything that was in the building out through the windows. See pics:

We had a storm blow through here Friday evening, and had what I'm assuming was a micro burst, neighbor lost part of their roof, and it peeled the screens off the front of my house.
Got a tornado warning on my phone, said that there was a severe thunderstorm in my area and the radar showed rotation. I have never experienced wind like that. I never heard anything about a tornado touching down though.

I was running around closing windows, the rain was coming in sideways. We have a covered patio on the eastside of the house that's probably 8' and my fridge is probably 10' from the window and the front of it was soaked in the time it took me to run around and close the windows. Looked like we had a lightning strike in the front yard. Went out looking Saturday and found a dark spot in the yard with some pieces of charred wood.
All in all, a pretty exciting evening. My first Arizona monsoon season has been interesting!

We've had our share of thunder storms lately. We watched a lightening bolt hit the ground in my neighbor's front yard on Saturday afternoon. It started a chain reaction with the dogs barking, our birds squawking and the cat's fur stood up straight. Me? I may or may not have peed a little.:o:confused::rolleyes:;)

A few times I have been out in a storm and
felt the hair on my forearms rise up !!

Time to be movin on !!

Thanks for the great pictures, of that light show.

I like hearing the "Cracking" and "Booms" made by the storms but when they get
just a few seconds away from the flash, I go inside, per "Pappies" advise.

Really neat pics. I'm not a fan of lightning. I'd love to get pics like those. We had a storm come through night 'fore last. I watched from inside the house. 40-50 mph wind lightning thunder..5 lightning strikes on the cliff behind the house 4-500 yds. and we got something we hardly ever get...rain...maybe an inch in 30 minutes...mostly ran off. yesterday the sun baked the moisture out of the ground...humidity was all the way up to 60% at 96 degrees. Thunk I was back in Maryland usually 2-8%
