A really good gun shop with a very nice owner is going out of business as soon as he sells out his inventory. Matt, owner of Wilmington Armory, just outside of Savannah, told me today that he just can't compete with the bigger wholesalers and is going to close his shop. He has some very nice firearms still in his inventory so you might want to call him 912-897-0580 to see what he has. I hope I am not violating any posting rules as that is not my intent. It is just a little sad to see a good shop close because of these mega-stores.

I always find the stores like Gander to be more expensive, however when I want an item and it can be bought for less elsewhere I tell the store where I like to do business and if he will match or come close he has my business. The small store is where I go to ask questions, make small talk, and hang out. If I don't support them, well you know the rest.

That is exactly my point. The big stores get the goods cheaper and quicker and can get it to the consumer. But the small shop owner can provide real service, is probably a shooter, reloader, smith, and has real knowledge about value. I have met people standing behind the gun counter at Bass Pro that might as well be selling eggs at the Waffle House for all they know.

I can tell you have never tried to rattle off that lingo at The Awful House, now those folks have some special talent.
