Wilson Combat Shok-Buff

I have used them in my IPSC 1911, in 45acp with complete satisfaction since about 1994. Well over a 100,000 rounds of major PF ammo through it without any frame battering or frame/slide breakage or peening. Usually replace when needed which is somewhere between 500-700 rounds. Of course I field strip the pistol everytime after I fire it, to clean and inspect, to include inspecting the shock buff. If your buffs are only lasting 100 rounds, you might have problems with springing either too light or worn recoil springs. Recoil springs don't last forever.

I've got a CQB that came from Wilson with the blue shok-buf's. After 3K+ rds the buff is a bit flatter, but looks fine.

This gun is the absolute softest shooting as well as ACCURATE 1911 I have EVER owned...and I have been buying 1911's since 1968.

I'll happily be the dissenter here and maintain the status quo with MY gun. I've never spoke to Wilson about the buf's, but if he sent the gun with one...it will stay in the gun.

To those of you who installed a shok buf and in short order it was in pieces...Whats THAT tell You? I'd say undersprung??

My $ .02

I tried them and found that they were really bad news for my Commander size Colts. They prevented clear ejection of a chambered round. The bullet nose would catch on the slide and tie up the gun. Change out your recoil springs every few thousand rounds and you will be fine. Spend your money on something worthwhile.

I use the plastic buffer, no other extra parts, in my Gold Cup and it works fine. I tried one in my Commander and it gave lots of problems.

Me too. Just the plastic buffer, in a (target range only) Colt Gold Cup.

I've never had any problems using them, but I'd NEVER put a buffer, or any of those other parts, in a SD or duty 1911.

I use them in my Wilson CQB-E and only change them every 2,500 Rounds or so. They came with the gun when I bought it new and I've just replaced them over time. After more than 5,000 Rounds I can't say anything bad about them ;;; they seem to work just fine and with zero problems in my gun.
