win. auto comp

haven't found much info on win. auto comp powder. but 6.5 gr. with a precison 200 gr. lswc shoots really well in my springfield mill spec. I would like to what others have tried?

It is my preffered powder for reduced/target loads for my 41 Mags(4.7gr) and 45 Colt's.(5.2 gr).Very accurate and clean powder with cast bullets,meters good is bulky for large capacity cases.I understand it is designed for the 45 ACP and was surprised to find loading info for the .41's,not surprised to hear of your good results with this powder.

During the ammo, component shortage at the time of the new administration, I bought 8lbs of it as they were out of my go to HP 38/W 231.

I use it in every pistol/revolver caliber. It meters great. I really do not see any advantage in it over HP 38 and most loads call for a little more powder than those with HP 38. So the cost of it is a bit more.

It's a great all around powder. As far as the"Comp" part I have no idea as to how a comp'ed gun can tell the difference.

My next powder order will be back to HP 38.

I've been using Auto Comp for a while now in .45 ACP and .40 S&W. As stated a clean burning powder and quite accurate. I also plan to use it in some .38 special and see how it performs. I believe the "Comp" refers to the competition accuracy it's capable of.

I have also used it in 38 spl, 357, 45 Colt. It works fine for all those. As mentioned it is pretty much as all around as Win 231 or HP 38. It requires a few more grains per load to equal the W 231/HP 38 so for general shooting/reloading it costs more.

It was designed for compensator guns. I only have one 1911 that has a compenstor bushing in addition to the regular bushing. For me, I see no advantage or disadvantage, maybe for competition shooters there is.
