Anyone have any experience with the above ammo? Specs "seem" like it should be a decent choice. I'm having trouble finding a local source for the recommended stuff that is not really pricey...

Product Description: Winchester Ammunition continues to invest in its rimfire product line with the development of a new 22 LR round for use in Modern Sporting Rifles (MSR).

New for 2011, this bullet is designed and packaged specifically for use in the growing number of high-capacity MSR 22 LRs. The new M-22 features a 40-grain Plated Lead Round Nose bullet optimized for reliable feeding in high capacity magazines. In addition, the M-22 utilizes non-corrosive priming and clean burning powder that delivers an ultrafast 1255 fps velocity and exceptional accuracy.

"Ultrafast 1255 fps velocity" may prove to be inaccurate as the bullet will transcend the sound barrier and bullets (and everything else) destabilizes during the transition (both directions). After a period of time and distance the bullet restabilizes. Short range zero may differ significantly from the long range. And shooting within the destabilized window will be erratic. (I recall they shoot .22Shorts in many competitions to avoid this effect.)

Sounds good otherwise. :D

I just bought the M-22 22LR on Wednesday, it fed smoothly and did not jam. The only reason I bought it was because another version on Winchester was jamming every few rounds. Nothing had changed (rifle cleaning, same magazine, etc) between the M-22 and other Winchester 22LR

There have been some folks shooting M-22 at my range with no apparent problems. It seems to be Winchester's answer to CCI Tactical.

I would take the claim of "exceptional" accuracy with a grain of salt. Exceptional accuracy in .22 LR comes, for the most part, with slower velocities, not higher.

Ran 400 through several including a M&P15-22. Functioned well, reasonably clean. Price was right from Gander Mountain with $10/1000 rebate.

Haven't tried it yet...

but I will! I have been running CCI Mini Mags and AR Tactical and they are both great in my 15-22s and my custom 10/22. The LRN certainly feeds best and the higher velocities run the guns better.

I gladly pay $6/100 rounds for Mini Mags(which works out to $240 for 4000 rnds) so the Winchester bulk price is damn good for good ammo!

I will say everyone needs to find what runs best in their guns. I've been using a lot of Federal Champion plated HPs but they absolutely won't run in my 10/22. Always experiment to find the best for your guns.

For better or for worse, I bought 2 boxes of 1000 at Wally World for $46 each. That's 4.6 cents apiece. Slightly cheaper than Federal Automatch.

I thought I'd give it a try in my Ruger 22/45s.

I'll let you know what happens.

Wal-mart has it for $45.00 a box here, and that's a pretty good price anymore. (2.50 a50rd box) I've not shot enough to make a good opinion, but I will soon.

i've ran 500 rounds through my and had 1 failure to feed and 1 failure to fire. I like it enough I bought more.
