Not that many folks shoot it frequently most of the time, but you should know it has changed.

I just picked up a box of it and found that it is now really a jacketed hollow soft point.

Really, it is a mute point in itself and I wouldn't gripe about it- but the hollow point cavities on most of them are closed!!!
I'm calling to complain tomorrow. At $10 a box, I demand quality.

Also, the headstamp has changed to a cheap, foreign-looking script "W".

I assume you mean the WW Supreme 34 gr. load? I stocked up on it a couple years ago, since it is so ridiculously accurate in my 10-22 Magnum, so I've not bought any lately. It has always had a tiny bit of exposed lead, but I've not seen any without a hollow point. If they've screwed up such a good thing, I really hate to hear it.

Andy, your post just made me dig out A box I just bought last week. Load # X22MH, 40 grain JHP. I'm looking at the hollow points now and I can see what you mean. In my box, some of them are closed up tight, some are clogged with bits of lead. I only have one box to look at and about 2/3 are as advertised, the rest closed to some degree.

Is this different from the Dynapoint load? That's the only W-W in my stash right now.
As far as I can tell from the company website, Dynapoint is only offered in long rifle and we are talking about the 22 magnum. The dynapoint bullet is copper clad, as opposed to a jacketed soft hollow point in the magnum loading above.

Actually, they do offer a Dynapoint in .22 Magnum. Load #USA22M
See here:
Rimfire

The difference between a Dynapoint magnum and a Super-X, is the Dynapoint is plated, and the Super-X is jacketed.
I'm just wondering if the Dynapoint would be a more reliable bullet since the quality of the current Super-X load is abysmal at best.

Thanks Andy. I missed that , I guess. As to you last question, I don't know. Sounds like you may need to do a bit of testing. :)

If it makes you feel any better, you paid $2 less per box for that ammo than I did. :(

Ordinarily, I'm a big CCI rimfire fan. However, with the +V and TNT loads, I've gotten lousy velocity spreads and lousy accuracy.

Well, I used to own an AMT Automag in .22 WMR.

It was a shooter! Extremely accurate and hit anything you aimed it at...but it only fed Winchester 40gr. ammunition. It just wouldn't function over three rounds with the other stuff.

I've always liked the Winchester, maybe just brand preference, but they always seemed to shoot well out of my magnums. The CCI in my Model 48 seems to leave more powder residue that seems to get under the extractor and keep it from closing until I brush it out.

The hollow point issue is likely to get me to change ammunition until it is resolved.

I wonder if this stuff is made in the new plant in Mississippi or at the old East Alton facility?

I tried to get up with them, but they don't exactly leave an easy way to "contact" them on their website. Clearly, I suppose that is by design. Not exactly customer service oriented like other brands. I gave a call to my dealer and asked him to get me a number. ;)
