Winchester 571

Does Winchester 571 have any applications for handguns loads? It seems to be close to Blue Dot in burn rate.

back in the day winchester put out a freebie loading booklet. it had 571 loads in it for semi-auto loads as i remember. if you will email me with cals and bullet weights you want to use i will look it up for you and send it back. email in profile.

Isn't 571 the same as HS-7? Check the Hodgden website, but it seems like it is.

The W-W 14th Edition Rteloading manual lists WE-571 loads for 9mm Luger, 40 S&W, 10mm and 45 ACP. I used up some W-571 left over from shotshell reloading in 9mm with 124 gr. jacketed bullets - it peformed well.

Yes, W571 and HS-7 are the same exact powders. Since HS-7 was still in production recently and can still be found on some store shelves the load data is also still available. You can use the HS-7 data for W571.

BTW, W540 = HS-6 too...
