Has anyone ever used Winchester Armory to purchase ammunition?

I tried to place an order and they wanted to use Zelle. They accepted the order and then wanted me use my Zelle account. At that point they started using an individual email asking I send a screen shot of the transaction to yet another email none of which were the original Winchester Armory. I am not super computer literate but this seemed strange to me and I canceled the order.
Maybe I am just an old man that doesn't know any better but was this on the up and up?

Good decision, you had a very close call.

Credit cards give you recourse.

Thanks for the above. I entered the email and got this back.

"Suspicious website identified. Read the analysis."

It had a score of 35 VS 100...
Thanks for the info Patriot!
You're very Welcome Sir! Glad you avoided scammer.

I use scamadviserDOTcom a lot lately. I was searching for Alliant Sport Pistol powder earlier today and found a multitude of sites that were suspect. Some will only accept bitcoin....and they didn't get a bit of my coins! :D

jem102, I truly hope you didn't give them too much information. You didn't enter a charge card number, did you? If you did I would call the credit card issuer and put a freeze on that card.

You are NOT being an old man or paranoid, you have good reason to avoid them.

I thank you all! I did not give out any card information but it was close...You all saved me $400.00!
I have stated it before and will again now, this is one of the, if not the, most honest and forthright forums on the net. I appreciate the opportunity to be a member.

Yes, it's almost certainly a scam. I use the scam detector site and they also give them a low score.

If you check out the Winchester Armory website, you'll find their language is off and they obviously copied their content from Optics Planet.

Ammunitions?
Ammos??
Optics Planet???

Their accepted payment method should make you very suspicious, but their contact information should really raise red flags. They list no address or phone number, only an email contact form.

These scams are all over the net. ONLY deal with reputable, established retailers and make sure you're actually on their site. Some of these criminal scumbags use legitimate company names, but use .net or .org, instead of .com.

Thank you Chad.
It is really a shame how people operate today. There have always been cheats and snake oil salesmen but today their audacity and ability to stuff the skin of a truth with a lie via the net and social media is simply astounding to me as an old man. But I was raised during the fifties when you didn't even need to think about being honest you just were...

Yeah, I did search for "Winchester Ranger .38 Special +P," and their site came up. The price for a box of 50 was $23.99. Yeah, right.
