I just received Colt .45 brass from two reputable suppliers. Notably, the Winchester brass came in at a little over .06 cents each, unprimed. The Remington bras came primed for .05 cents each. I thought maybe there was more brass in the Winchesters, not so, they measured .010" thickness, compared to the Rem's .012"! What gives?

You got a better deal on the Remington. That's it! There is no meaningful difference between the two brands of brass.

Sounds like the Remington cases was a better bargain since it was primed and the case wall measured .002 thicker... but many moons ago I was curious about case strength/construction after reading an article about hot rodding the .45 Colt in Ruger Blackhawks.

I cross sectioned (lenghtwise) Winchester, Remignton and Federal cases I had and found that the Winchester brass had slightly thicker case walls/webs at the base and head.

I don't know if it is still the same way with today's Winchester .45 Colt brass, or even if it applies to all of their handgun brass, but I've stuck with it ever since.
