This ammo is described as being loaded with three "plated Defense Disks" and 12 plated BB shot.

What exactly are these disks?

Something to try and sell Judge owners to make a .410 look like a viable self defense round. Looks like a slug divided into 3 pieces.
The Judge is better off loaded with 45 Colt rounds.

I haven't seen any to diasect yet, but I'm guessing they are nothing but lead discs made to stack on top of each other. The idea is not new and had been done in several different versions in the past, none of which were a marketing success.

Couldn't have said it better myself! Reminds me of the multi-ball .357 loads that Remington tried to sell some years back. Just another gimmick.

What exactly are these disks?

It's kinda like the old stacked wadcutter style disk moulds they used to, and may still make at times for .38's

I'd prefer 3" #9's myself, followed by .45 silvertips.
