Winchester Super-X .357 Mag Ammo

A friend gave me about a hundred rounds of this old Winchester Super-X .357 Magnum Lubaloy Plated ammunition. It came in a yellow box. Putting aside the age of this stuff is there any reason I shouldn't shoot this? I'd be using either a S&W PC Model 627 or a Ruger SP101. I hate to just store it; it begs to be converted to noise.

Yes. It leads too much. Many decades ago, before there was as much good ammo around as now, and before I knew much (not that I know that much now), I shot some of that **** in a Ruger Blackhawk. It leaded the barrel so bad that I was cleaning strips of lead out of it. I sold the gun and never looked back.

Before I do I should mention I no longer have the original boxes. They were pretty deteriorated. Does that matter to you?

We used to call that stuff "Winchester Leadalot". I still shoot some whenever I wonder if the current 357 loads are as hot as the old ones. The old Lubaloy has a lot more flash and crack than most of the newer stuff. That may or may not be due to powder burning outside the barrel.

Yep. That makes a VERY big difference.
