I read where the meteorologist who came up with the formula to determine Wind Chill died earlier this year.

He was 81 years old, but he only felt like he was 65.

Supposed to get down in low-mid teens in Middle Georgia by Christmas. We ain't used to this. Checking antifreeze in vehicles, and wrapping pipes. Pipe wrapping is a big job when there are cattle water tanks in a dozen or more locations. I might be too old for this.

I used to live in Minnesota. Often, when the snow stopped, the temps dropped, and the wind velocity picked up. Minus 20s were frequent enough to make the decision to head for warmer climes when I retired.

It was important to get the snow off the driveway and walks just after the snow stopped; otherwise, you had to contend with Mother Nature's sense of humor. Brrr!

I don't envy your workload, but wrapping is better than plumbing.

Decent today, but look at Thursday night's low! That's definitely NOT normal.

Redlevel, I do believe it will be a little nippy Friday morning feeding the cows. Wind chill is projected to be -10 here in North Alabama and looks like a lot of frozen water around if the forecast is correct.

They are predicting 55 to 60 below 0 wind chill here for Thursday.
Sure glad I won't be out feeding 400 cows anymore.

You can tell how cold a winter has been here by size of the stacks of ice that has been chopped out of the cattle drinking tanks at the windmills.

I would rather the meteorologist give the heat index in the winter and the wind chill in the summer

Negative numbers here in NW Arkansas for Thursday with some kind of
freezing precip. And below freezing until Monday. I will be letting the
faucets drip for that below 0 stuff.
With this forecast I cut a big dead white oak and split up a pickup load
to add to the wood shed. Yes, it will be a hot shower and early to bed
tonight.

Fortunately we have no wind today. My neighbour's maddeningly annoying wind chimes are silent.

Lovely! Barely hit 12ºF today + wind = -5º :( About the same expected tomorrow. And I'm only about 50 miles from the Pacific coast where we're not supposed to get this cold. Mind you, last winter it hit 0ºF on Dec.27.

Supposed to get 4-6"of snow overnight & tomorrow so I guess I'll be up early, well wrapped up and on my tractor to clear the snow piled up by the graders in my & my neighbours' driveways.

Well, for Thursday they are forecasting 26 degrees with 20MPH winds. That's a wind chill of 12 degrees. For us, that's cold as hell. I know the plains states are laughing at those temps, but it's cold for here. The real interesting thing is the ice. They are forecasting anywhere from one to 3 days of freezing rain. Better stock up on food, the store is at the top of a hill.
