Having lived in Alaska for twenty years, Winter Solstice is a big deal mentally. Here is a cool time lapse photo of Fairbanks. It was taken in just under 4 hours.
Way cool. A friend who used to ride my bus (I was going to my law office; he was going to his high school) is an Army sergeant up there now, and he sends some pretty great pics down.
Thanks for that wonderful photo. I don't understand much about the stars and planets, but I studied up on the path of the sun a few years back when I was planning to build a solar array at my house. Ever since, I have had an affinity for the solstices. Work has been crazy this year, and I didn't even realize the day was upon us today. Think I'll go out and build a little bon fire later tonight to mark the day in my own way.
