I recently purchased the 9C and love the firearm with one exception. The grip is just a little stubby in my hand even with the pinky extension. I have a shield 9mm with the 8 rd magazine and the grip extension and absolutely love the feel and comfort of the firearm. the 7 rd mag made it a tad bit small, but with the 8 and the grip extension its my EDC. Are there any plans in the works for S&W to make a 14 round magazine for the 9c with the similar grip extension to the shield. I think there would be a huge market for this, and would make a great firearm just perfect for EDC and for the comfort in the grip so the pinky isn't dangling. Just wishing they would make something like this as the 17rd with the x-grip is just too darn long for CCW.

I have doubts that they will make another magazine size and also have doubts it would sell very well. Just my guess though. You've got 10+1 with the 9C and then 15 and 17 for the FS. I'm not sure another magazine size would be cost effective to make. Maybe so, it doesn't seem an expensive part to make. They could do something similar to what they do with the Shield and give you one of each size when you buy the gun. So, you'd get a 10 and then something in the 12-14 range. You're idea is not a bad one just not sure there is as much demand as you think. The 9C is already pretty bulky compared to other CC options, that's why I got the Shield, so adding bulk may not be what most shooters (read: people laying down cash) want in this gun.

S&W probably never will go from 12 to 14 on the M&P 9c mag. There are a great many manufacturers of +2 base plates for M&P mags. I Googled "S&W +2 mag base" and got 15,800 responses. Midway will have a bunch to your door this week if you like. I'm just jealous because my nanny state thinks over 10 rounds is a weapon of mass destruction

Just buy a 15 or 17 round magazine and buy the X-Grip to put on the magazine. They work great and make the pistol have a full size grip.

I think you guys missed his point. He wants a slightly larger magazine to have more grip area, not necessarily for more capacity, and already said that the FS mags where to big for CCW.

Nope dod not miss anything, a 2 round extension will make it almost as long as the 17 and or 15 round magazine I would figure.

The mecgar sig sauer plus 2 bases have worked perfectly in my 9c (have 2, each has at least 800 rounds through it with no failure; early on one would not drop free but use has solved that)

The mecgar basepads add about 1/2" to the overall length, giving slightly more grip.

If I were interested in having more, higher capacity 9c mags d buy a few more. As it is now, I only "need" the 2 I have.

The +2 Sig baseplate ! Looks perfect to give a bit more grip without exceeding or even as long as the normal pinky extension. Get two more rounds as a bonus. For sure, those S&W mag springs are up to the task. Think I will get at least one, maybe two, to make it a twenty round gun!

What is the model #?

could you possibly snap a pic of that extension in the gun? I'm very interested in how well it fits. Just might get one for a 12 round, and a 17 round mag for my 9C... Thanks a lot.

If the Mec-Gar extension is on the top magazine in the picture it looks like it would actually be slightly shorter than the standard 12 round compact magazine. Is that what is shown in the top picture?

Correct, the mag at the top in the pic is the mecgar bp, the factory finger rest bp is in the middle, full size 17 rd mag on the bottom.

The picture is a bit deceiving. The mecgar is very slightly longer in the front, but much more, and noticeably longer in the back compared to the factory finger rest bp.

The shape is also less svelte. For me, it makes the gun slightly more 'printy' compared to the factory. I'll pull out the calipers and get some measurements

A few more pics...the mecgar measures about .775", the factory about .780 (measuring height of front lip)
The mecgar measures the same in the back, and the factory measures about .240 in the back, bout a half inch difference

Is there enough material on the front edge, to be able to be sanded down to fit the lines of the grip?

It's hollow, so it'd probably be a bit more involved than just sanding. I think. A fellow over of arfcom filled iti n with epoxy and then reshaped it.

Hello. Just ordered a +2 extension from Greg Cote as described by richiecotite....hoping it will work on one of my S&W M&P 9C magazines. Not trying for increased capacity, but better (slightly longer) gripping feature on short magazine. Greg was very helpful and suggested a newer extension. Comments? Experience? Regards, Ed

What keeps it on? Is it secured like a factory mag?

No, it's quite different. If memory serves, it has an L shaped plate, and part of it rides up the back of the mag just a bit. In my experience it's been just as secure (no issues when dropped on concrete floor), but easier to bugger.
