Mostly for target shooting. 6" barrel. Stainless would be fine. Full or half underlugged. No weird slabsides or unfluted cylinders, though!

But a 3" barreled "practical" version would be interesting, too. Perhaps with more than 6 rounds. (Esp. if good speedloaders become available.)

It's so bad that I bought 1000 .32 cal. wadcutter bullets the other day. (For about the same price as 500 .38 lead bullets.)
And no prospects of using them anytime soon...

A nice S&W model 30 would fill the bill.

For a practical carry gun, sure. And is currently available as the 632. (Which I will probably get in "Pro" format once the feeding frenzy is over and distributors have any sort of stock. The last one I saw (New, BTW) was beat half to death in the store.

But the primary wish is for a target revolver that is heavy enough to be stable and not use as much powder or lead as a .38 Spl.

Used to be .38 wadcutter loads were very inexpensive, but no longer! For my purposes .32 S&W Long would be fine, but the sales potential would have to be better in .327 Magnum.

Accurate, low recoil, factory wadcutter prices are about the same as the bigger caliber, and cheap to reload.

If a Model 16-2 ever shows up it'll do, but the last one I saw in person was over ten years ago! Sold before I came back the next day. The one before that had been scoped up and was well overpriced even back then.

I am really enjoying my 16-4 6" K Frame. Unfortunately these are scarce and you can't find them anywhere. If S&W would bring it back out (in .327 Federal) there would be buyers. I know of a few who have had their chambers on 16-4's reamed to take .327's and are very well pleased in how they shot.

What are the 16-4'S selling for? I have a nice 6" w/box and I'm thinking of selling it. Larry

A quick look seems to have a range between US$495 and $1100. Average? Probably $800? But that's "pre-feeding frenzy". Put it on auction and see what happens.

Which is one reason why I'd just as soon get a factory new K-frame .327 or .32 Mag. Probably cost less! And since I intend on shooting it quite a bit, there's no need to pay collector prices.
