With all the new gun owners out there…

I think most of the younger generation ave no interest in how things evolved and how beautiful a Vintage Revolver actually is. Most would prefer a Glock over a Registered Magnum.
Rob

Most kids we know, in their mid thirties, are not going to take a registered magnum out on their 300K+ 30 foot boat plus necessary gear when fishing, have to raise kids properly, buy one or two homes or land to build on for small ranches farming, buy/rent facilities for their businesses and the list goes on. They carry what they need when hiking, on the slopes skiing, mountain biking, hunting, fishing inland or other activities.
Those that do not earn in the mid six figures or more wear badges, are firefighters, EMTs, active duty military or 100% after deployments and are educators etc etc.

Besides they are not stupid. ;)
They'll inherit the good stuff from the loving parents including loading gear and must have funds available for primers. :D

We hope that their lives are not altered by intoxicated drivers on the road so large safe vehicles ain't cheap.
Then there's aircraft. :D

Social media is only for business as they pick up the phone/FaceTime with family and friends.
Privacy is a value they understand.
They all didn't grow up with silver spoons so they are busy earning their place.

Huh?????????????????

I visited the duck hunting chat a lot............
then they changed the forum layout to where I could not find anything.

I posted 2-4 more times on the reloading section and finally gave up.

Did the fish sniffer and finattics but arguing who was the chief and politics and $$ finally
got to where it was no more fun to post or read the BS that was going on.

At my age I don't need power struggles, Ego trips or hard to figure out sites, where you can't find your messages any more.

I also agree with the younger kids are into other things, now.....
not drugs, but just friends and the new "Things" to do or see.

I agree that forums are losing steam. At one time I belonged to three hunting forums in my home state. Two are gone completely. The other is nothing but fighting and arguing. I have not been on it in years.
I have not nor will I ever Facebook Twitter or any of that nonsense.
I can barely stand You Tube and then only for specific topics.
As far as gun forums go I am mostly interested in the blue steel and walnut type stuff and most are not so I stand aside and watch those go by.

I suspect that a lot of the newer gun owners did not come through a generational tradition of gun ownership and the associated relationships. I hunted with my grandfather, dad and uncles. My dad took me to the range and joined a couple gun clubs, was a Life Member of the NRA, went to gun shows and took me along. I practically wore the print off the pages of my dad's gun books and magazines. And so when I grew up, I joined the NRA and Ohio Gun Collectors Association, went to gun shows, bought Gun Digest, joined local gun clubs and started shooting handguns competitively. So joining in with forums like this was just a natural extension of what had happened in my life.

I think we should just give them time. The percentage that become more interested will migrate onto forums when ready.

I know quite a few older gun owners who don't belong to a forum.
