Since you cant hard chrome a stainless gun what would be a very close finish to that, that you could do to a stainless gun?

I've looked at beadblasting and its not quite there atleast from the examples I've seen, honestly it looks cheap looking compaired to the hard chromed guns

I'm pretty sure stainless can be hardchromed. I suppose hardchromed stainless would have some advantages, the only downside would be the additional cost.

Stainless guns can, indeed, be hardchromed.

Stainless guns can even be "blued". When done it looks just like a blue steel gun.

Stainless can be plated, Chromium and just about anything else. Why would you want to?

:) Why not polish it with Mothers Mag Polish. It will look like nickle or chrome. Don

What Hawkeye said. I have "polished out" several stainless guns for other people. Just takes time.

My goal is to replicate the look of the Bren Ten from MV with the 645.

with its hard chrome over staineless look since I just think that compaired to the bren it looked wrong with an all polished stainless frame and slide.

basically silver over stainless but the bead blasted stainless looks kinda cheap and sort of home done and I thought you couldnt hard chrome stainless nor blue it since the bluing just wears off and to my knowledge it wasnt anywhere near as durabile as the bluing of a normal steel gun, specifically with the robar blued staineless

The deepest pitting I have ever seen in a gun was on a stainless steel ruger. Very bad, and too deep to buff out.

Hardchrome will seal the surface of a stainless gun and help prevent corrosion.

Would I be willing to pay the price to do this? Probably not, but I understand if someone feels the need to do it. There are advantages.

Ditto on Mother's Mag Wheel Polish for SS. It takes time but the gun will look like nickle or chrome when you're done.

FWIW, I had an early iteration SS Ruger M77 bead blasted to a flat, dull, matte finish for use as a predator hunting gun, and have had my 640s bead blasted on the topstrap for a non-glare finish--- the appearance, I guess, is a matter of preference or taste, but in all cases has achieved the desired result, and proved satisfactorily durable.

Its just one of those things that I want to do simply because its different, I've shot plently of properly blued smith revolvers, an all stainless Kimber and ruger revolver, two glocks and I'd just like to do something completely different with this

and I was really looking forward to the resurrection of the bren ten because of how different looking it was compaired to all of the other semi autos out there and I'd just want to try and make the 645 a substitute for it as the 645 is one of the only all polished stainless steel double action 45's smith ever made, and I already know how to fix the gun so it looks more balanced with the sights and the right side safety lever

and I was just curious if anyone knew of a bead blasting job that looked just good as a hard chroming job because I thought you just couldnt do that to a stainless gun
