Not often seen in this condition, I am offering up this antique Belgian Made Mascate Martini-Henry Cavalry Carbine with original cleaning rod and sling swivels.

Chambered in .577/450

Has Saudi markings on the receiver and this one came from an old friend of mine who once worked for IBM in their early days and spent many years in the Middle east. He gathered up some interesting guns including this one and an original .60 caliber flintlock Camel Gun from circa 1720.

My limited research dates this one to circa 1895 which makes it an antique and can ship directly to you as long as it is legal to do so to your particular state. Sorry, no shipping to Alaska or Hawaii on this one and California is fine as long as it can ship to you directly without filling out any paperwork on my end.

Not British although it follows the British Cavalry Carbine design, this is a Belgian made carbine for the Islamic market of the Middle East. The top of the barrel is marked PREMIÈRE QUALITE behind the rear sight, and next to that the top of the nocks form is marked MARTINI MASCATE.

Martinis built or engraved for the Muscat market are almost always Belgian, although surplus British Martinis were imported as well, and they are usually well-made. In fact, Martinis seem to be one of the firearms which fared quite well in the Belgian trade.

The wiggly lines to break up barrel reflection is a common factor on most of these guns, the ladder rear sight is often removed and replaced with a little brass fixed peep-sight, soldered to the barrel immediately in front of the action. However, this example retains its original ladder sight.

Condition is excellent with a very good bore. The firing pin has a broken tip (See photos) but could be repaired fairly easily by a competent machinist. There is a small stock chip/repair where the butt stock meets the top of the receiver......metal and wood are excellent considering it's age!

Cartridge Type: Centerfire Cartridge
Barrel Length: 21-1/2 Inches
Overall Length: 37 3/4 Inches

Here is an example of another with a very close serial number and nearly identical markings.
