Just watched Wonder Woman and I was thoroughly impressed. A little long at 2 hours 21 minutes, but being able to stare at Gal Gadot the whole time made it fly by.

I love WWI movies, but they can be hard to find. This year had The Lost City of Z, which had some WWI scenes, but was mostly set in South America.

Wonder Woman was great fun, with a star-making performance by the lovely Gadot.

Don't look for historical accuracy, because I doubt a smoking-hot 5000 year old Amazonian demigoddess with a Lariat Of Truth actually hastened the end of the War To End All Wars. Chris Pine does some nice work with a Winchester 97, and a mystical Indian shoots some Germans with a tack-decorated Winchester 73.

We saw it in 3D because everything else was sold out, but it didn't add much.

Here's WW making her way across no-man's-land.

Standard movie thread caveats apply:

- You want 2 hours and 21 minutes of your life back.
- Hollyweird is full of Hollyweirdos and they'll get none of your money
- There hasn't been a movie worth watching since The Osterman Weekend

The trailers for the movie look good, at least the special effects. But, didn't the original Wonder Woman fight the Nazis in WW2, not WW1?

Yep, that's true. I think they changed to WWI to avoid having this one look too much like Captain America, another movie with a superhero with a magical shield.

This is her origin story - after this she'll be in modern times with the Justice League.

Thanks for the review, I'll try to see it if time allows. When I was a kid, I loved to watch any war movie (along with Westerns), after all, I am male. But I actually thought wars were fought in black and white.... :D

Go ahead - make fun. :):):)

Thanks for the review. I've been on the fence about his one. Especially after the Superman vs Batman fiasco. DC takes themselves much too seriously.

Just might go see this one.

I watched the long trailers....

There is a lot more back story than we are used to seeing. I told my wife (we haven't been to the movies in years) that it looked like something we'd like to see. It sure seems 'action packed'.

Took my 10 year old granddaughter to see it Thursday evening.

We both enjoyed it!!

Lead to a discussion of WW I and Gal's background in the Israeli army.

She did. Over 40 years ago when i was collecting comic books, a family friend of our offered to give me (GIVE ) me-her entire collection of Wonder Woman comic boks from teh 40s. My said no--not sure why? but I do remember reading the first issue while they discussed the matter. Those books were in excellent condition and are now worth a fortune. I wnder if the Bynums still have them?

With a $100 MIL opening, there are plenty folks who agree with you.

My grandson (9) really wants to see it. It sounds like fun but I will have to wait until it comes to me as my back and hips cannot survive two hours in stasis.

Sort of caused some flak locally - one of the theaters is having women-only showings. Is that sexist or not? Makes no difference to me as I hadn't planned to see it anyway. Maybe I will when it shows up on Redbox.

My granddaughter liked it well enough to get her mom to take her to see it again this morning!

By the way, our local theater did some remodeling work in the last few months installing all reclining seats in the theaters. Like sitting in a lazyboy!

This is one movie the wife and I might go see, depending on the wife's health.

Anybody want to bet the people complaining about Alamo Drafthouse women only showings didn't have a problem with a country singer having a men only concert.
