I have the SW9GVE but the wife does not like the safety features on it and we are having a child soon also. I am wondering what the trade vallue for a sigma might be when trading for a different style Smith and Wesson one with a safety mechonism?

Luke:

This may be sacrilege, but I would suggest trying to trade your pistol in for a H&K PSP. They are available at (somewhat) reasonable prices and they are extremely safe and accurate. This was one of my "grail guns" and I finally acquired one earlier this year. I have arthritis in both hands, as well as a wrist injury to me shooting hand. I was very surprised to find that the squeeze cocker works very well for me and is very safe. My 11 year old son cannot fully depress the squeeze cocker, and a lot of people - even those that are into guns have trouble figuring out how to operate it. I bought mine at the local Cabela's, by the way.

Best of luck to you, and congratulations in advance for your baby.

Regards,

Dave

Rule of thumb is when you trade on another gun, you're likely to see an offer of about half what you originally paid taxes not included(assuming your gun is in LN condition and you got a good deal originally). I really don't need my 9VE and don't especially like it, but if I trade, I'll likely see an offer of about $175. In my case, it makes more sense to me to just save up for the next "gotta have."

Thank you for the congrats Double-O-Dave I will have to check into this handgun!
SouthpawShooter I will take this into consideration I do like the gun but finances are short.
Thank you all for your help!!

Sorry I am in Wisconsin and what does FTF stand for?

Luke,

FTF = Face to Face

For in state transfers, buyer and seller meet to allow inspection and to avoid shipping and FFL transfer fees.

Luke,

I used to think I was so hard that kids could ice skate on me. I broke down and cried like a baby when I was signing the health insurance enrollment form to add my daughter to our health care coverage...it really sunk in that I was a DAD. One thing I learned early on is that if you can't satisfy Mama that your firearms are safe, and safely and securely put away, you aren't going to have much fun. My wife has no interest in firearms, but thankfully, she believes that I know what I'm doing so I'm allowed to have my toys. Best of luck to you and your wife...these will be some of the best days of your lives.

Regards,

Dave
