Just came back from it.... luckily it was a free screening. I don't get the allure of zombies...I like my villains to have depth and character, like the Zodiac killer or Dr. Lechter...fighting throngs of undead where only a head shot works, bores me to tears.

I didn't see it yet. I don't see many in theaters any more, but I would think they are going for the zombie likin' crowd, just sayin' I bet you would just hate my rem 1911 and versamax zombie cammo now there ain't no reason or rhymin there. But I like 'em!

Or a chilling one, Charles Boyer's character in "Gaslight". No gore, no violence, but a frightening flick all the same.

I think the original "Night Of The Living Dead" pretty much nailed the zombie thing.

Of course, I did kind of like the Martian invaders in "Mars Attacks" who could be killed by playing Slim Whitman's "Indian Love Call" till their heads exploded.

I was trapped in Woodland Hills, CA, on a business trip...AMC right across from the hotel. WWZ was playing at the time I walked over there. I wish I had stayed at the hotel bar instead.

I still don't get the zombie allure.

I liked it. Think it was one of the best zombie movies made. Glad they didn't use "gore and blood" to try and make the movie. Instead, a good storyline was added to some cool special effects, and Pitt carried the day! Since this is a "gun" site: How about the Dr. who was warned to keeep his finger offf the trigger, but didn't listen? He should have never been given a gun!

I've said this before (I think I have, I'm old), but I can't get interested in watching dead people who look better than I do. And probably are healthier.

Here's a handy formula to use: quality of plotting, dialogue and acting varies inversely with the number of explosions per hour.

Car chases and zombies can be thought of as wild cards.

I think that is the whole point. There is no allure to a zombie. They are disgusting, nasty dangerous, shuffling undead.

World War Z *the book* was interesting because it was presented as the written account of the oral history of the zombie war. Basically a collection of people being interviewed and telling their person stories about what happened. Doctors, soldiers, you name it. The movie appears to only have been based on the premise that hey, we had a zombie outbreak, which is a pity. If the book had been properly handled it could have been an interesting TV show or mini-series.

I loved the book, too. I did like the movie, but had to separate it from the book in my head.

I think the plan is to use WWZ as a prequel to another couple of films. Since WWZ did better box office than expected I hope this will happen. Brad Pitt is looking for a franchise - they certainly left the door wide open for some sequels that will more closely follow the book.

The book touched on part of the zombie craze that has hardly been addressed by Hollywood. That is the Underwater Zombie. I look for these to pop up in future movies. That part of the book gave me the creeps after reading about them. I also think the cast of The Walking Dead could have handled the zombies in the lab pretty quickly-the ones in Israel not so much.
