I've noticed my onyour6 design holster is starting to fit my shield loose. It still holds my shield just fine but there is now some play in the holster from me practicing my draw. Is this normal?

From their website:
"All of our holsters come with a lifetime manufacturer’s warranty! We do not want to end up in that box with all your other holsters we want to be the ones that replaces all your other holsters!"

Well, everything is going to wear eventually... but I should expect a Kydex holster to last a loooooooooooong time.

What type is it? Can you show some pictures?

Here is the big one... is it hot where you live and do you leave the holster in your car?

I am not a big fan of kydex holsters, but I do own one……a blade tech for a H&K USP .40…..there are two screws on the holster to adjust the retention of the gun, a rubber bushing between the kydex that is tightened, or loosened, to adjust it to your preference…….if you can't adjust the tension on your firearm, without a blow dryer…..you need to look for a different holster.

Semper Fi!

No pics of it at the moment but it is this one

Miami is very hot and I do leave it locked in my car during my work day.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing but was curious if this was normal. While worn, it's not noticeable.

I suspect that is your problem. Kydex is thermo formed. In other words, it's heated up then molded.

The working temperature for 0.80 thickness Kydex is 320-340 degrees to mold. It softens up a lot earlier and becomes malleable somewhere in the 200+ range.

The thinner 0.60 Kydex that I believe onyour6 uses will be effected at a lower temperature.

I would bet money that's why it's gone loose, car temperatures can get pretty crazy. 90 degrees outside will put a car up at around 110.

110 and above is where Kydex will begin to relax and it doesn't take a lot to effect the fit.

My holsters come with a a couple of printed sheets telling people that leaving Kydex in very hot cars is not a good idea.

I meant to leave on of mine in the car and in the sun over the summer here in California (Temp where I am can go 110) to see exactly what happens. I will definitely do it next summer.

No worries at all.

If you get a new one, come that crazy hot bit of summer just adjust accordingly and I think you'll be fine.

You cannot leave a Kydex holster in a car in South Florida in Summer and early fall. A sealed car in Florida easily reaches 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Your holster's instruction sheet should have warned you of this fact. Try to use a hair blow dyer or a heat gun as suggested. For summer car storage go to a different holster.

It shouldn't matter if the gun is metal or not. Kydex is formed and becomes like a mold for the gun so there should not be any stretching

The Kydex can be heated (heat gun, hair dryer) in the trigger area then slightly push in on the warm Kydex to increase retention. If you send the holster in this is what the manufacturer will do.

I make Kydex holsters (I don't sell them) for me and wifey. 1hatchet is on the money, keep in mind you want to snug it up in front of the trigger between the trigger and trigger guard. If you make it snug between the trigger and the grip an AD is possible. Also, don't make it too tight as it'll tighten up when your belt pulls it into your waist. If you put it on and it's too snug just reheat it and pull the weapon out while hot. Be careful not to distort it with heat, it doesn't take much. A cold wash cloth covering all but the trigger guard will help. Kydex is easy to work with, inexpensive (e-bay) and fun. You'll end up with a holster perfect for you. I use .60, it's easy to mold and have never had any break or fail in any way. My latest (been using it about 6 months) is very small. No screws, just kydex wrapped tightly, overlapped at the barrel and trigger guard, glued and sanded so the seams are not noticeable. OWB either clipped just behind the belt or the pants too if a belt loop is where you want to wear it. I carry a G26 mostly or a G30 sometimes. They ride low at appendix, grip lays on my belt so my blubber belly doesn't get rubbed raw. Sitting or standing it's very comfy under an oversized T shirt.
