There is always quite a bit of discussion on the best WWII movies, such as the The Longest Day or Saving Private Ryan. However, they have been some pretty bad ones over the years as well. What are some yall's opinions on the worst WWII films?

My choice is Battle of the Bulge (1965). While the acting and the story told in the movie are not that bad, the artistic license really ruins for me. Trying to pass off a snowy Belgium winter battle as taking place in some sort of spring or summer Mediterranean environment really ruins it for me.

To be fair, I am not against completely fictional WWII movies. I love Where Eagles Dare.

Any movie which makes no attempt to try to be historically accurate.

I recall one WWI movie about the Germans and Russians fighting and both sides are using Enfield rifles! US M60 tanks with German insignia painted on them advancing with German troops. Any sub machine gun which shoots the entire movie and never has its magazine changed. The soldier who has spare magazines for the SMG but has the same number of spare magazines at the end of the movie as he had at the start. etc., etc.

A strange one: "Castle Keep". At least it had a good looking babe in it.

I do like "To Hell and Back" but the scene where advancing German troops are being hit by Audie's 50 cal MG, and just lay down, is a bit much.

"Kelly's Heroes" Donald Sutherland, who happens to be 6'4", playing a bearded hippy/beatnik tanker.

Some movies are meant to be historical and some are just fictional stories set in a war....................................

same with westerns;morality plays set in the 1800s west.

Pays your money and take your chances. I can enjoy both for what they are..................it's that time of the year to watch "Gettysburg", "The Shootist" ........

and "Last of the Mohicans" in front of a fire on a snowy Sunday afternoon..........................

Didn't Spielberg make a WWII movie about Pearl Harbor..."1941" or something? I don't recall seeing it, but it was a comedy and was not well received by critics or the viewing audience. IMHO, there's nothing comical about WWII...50 million people died...so based on that I'll recommend it for the list of bad films.

When I was young lad living on a New Mexico ranch in the '50's, we would go to town (60 miles away) about once a month for supplies. My brother and I would spend most of the day at the movie theater watching whatever was playing. We once seen a WWII movie called "Monkey on my Back". We watched the whole movie several times and never saw that damn monkey!!

Windtalkers with Nicholas Cage is a horrible WWII movie.

Pearl Harbor has decent action at the end but overall that movie is a ****.

The new version of Midway looked pretty terrible.

Sorry fellows, but 1941 and Kelly's Hero's are two of my favorite movies. I loved "Oddball."

I've been watching the classic "Victory at Sea" series lately. I don't know how many times I saw SDB's and Mitchell's bombing Pearl Harbor, or attacking the US fleet. The same footage over and over and over.

Still a good series.

The all-time worst WWII movie has to be "Hell is for Heroes" (1962) which incidentally starred Bob Newhart as one of the heroes (doing a stand-up comedy routine in the midst of battle, probably the high point of the film, certainly the most memorable) and Steve McQueen in one of his early film appearances. No production value, and minimal plot except for soldiers running around and shooting. The story goes that the production company went broke before filming was complete, so the movie ended abruptly. It was released as an unfinished movie, and I doubt if anyone who sat through it noticed or cared.
