Would you buy a revolver not made by Smith and Wesson?

Sure, I own a couple of inebreated buzzard logo boat anchors.
However, I would never own three of them- owning three of anything makes you a collector!

Sure. I have. As long as a revolver has everything I need and nothing I don't, I could care less who made it. Hopefully Colt will make revolvers again soon. Regards 18DAI

My first carry gun was a Taurus Model 605, 357 magnum. It had to be sent back twice because the cylinder timing was horribly off. Revolver's are supposed to be the most reliable of all handguns and my taurus was the complete opposite. Now i carry an M&P9 and will let my 357 sit in the glove box when i drive into the city for work until i get a smith 442. In my opinion i will never buy anything other than a smith again.

Heck yeah. I love Colt's, and I've owned Charters. I have a real affection for High Standard Double 9s, and I wouldn't pass up a decent Dan Wesson. I also have a Webley .45 and an Enfield .38 that are tons of fun. I even like old top-breaks like H&Rs and their ilk.

I own smiths and rugers. The only other thing I would even consider would be a colt (and they are on the wish list).

I've owned all three the OP asked about at various times. They functioned okay and were decently accurate. I know all of them have had quality problems reported by some people but I never had any trouble with the ones I had and only moved them on to get something else I wanted. I don't see them coming in for repairs all that often at the shop either.

I have been seriously considering purchasing a rossi.. (ducks thrown stones..) In my defense I figured the selling point would be a great way to break into the 6" 357 class. Once I handle it I would drop the money on a SW, ruger gp100 or yes even a Taurus 608. So I can have some craftsmanship to compare it to. Sort of like what I did with my first Semi auto, the Sigma. Trigger pull 12lbs, no bells or whistles. Now with my second auto loader I have a whole new found respect for the additional features, lighter pulls and so forth. Basically I like the start low to appreciate and have something to compare the higher end ones to.

I just did a quick revolver tally. I own 63 revolvers. 64 if you count the .357 mag Navy Arms revolving carbine.

23 Colts (4 SA, 19 DA)
15 S&W
9 Italian reproductions made by Uberti & Pietta. 5 are cap & ball, 3 cartridge, and that revolving carbine.
6 Rugers ( 3 SA, 3 DA)
3 Taurus
2 D-Max
1 Astra
1 Dan Wesson
1 Enfield
1 North American Arms
1 Rossi
1 R.J. Braverman

I love my colt python .357 magnum 4 inch blued. Don't shoot it much anymore. My favorite is my 11mm st etienne french revilver, 1874.

My local pawn shop has a cobra lt wgt frame nickled that is tight and near perfect xcept for grips ,they are a little dinged up and he wants 429 for it which i think is a real good deal. You just have to be patient.

To the Gent considering a Taurus 608-I am very fond of mine-I had the model 44 first-which you probably know is the same large frame as the 608. The 608 is one of the best out of the box revolvers I have experienced. I also have an as new model 441 44SPL-incdedible gun. In my view, Taurus revolvers need custom grips-they make the gun. And by the way, I recently sent in the 44 for service, and was pleasantly surprised at the difference from some other reports and experiences. They have an online form you fill out now, and the whole process is streamlined. I had the gun back in less than 2 weeks. Flapjack.

Yup, I have owned alot of the ones mentioned above, sold most of them off though cause they didn't mean much to me. Still have one Taurus in the house that my wife loves, one Ruger single six, and a very old top break nickle .45 a great uncle of mine came up with somewhere. No idea who made it, but it's well built, has a serial number of 26, and is quite a conversation piece. Oh, and a couple italian black powder revolvers as well.

S&W and Colt gets my attention and money. I do not look for other brands on the used market but somehow have wound up with a Charter Arms, a Davis, a Titan and a RG. They were given to me though.
