Would you by an MP22 again?

I found magazines at cheaperthandirt. It looks like there was some sort of large distribution. $28.

I'm close to "pulling the trigger" on this one, but I'm wondering if this is still the weapon of choice for a 22lr pistol. Thanks for your opinions.

Personally, I prefer the ease of shooting a single action pistol such as the Ruger 22 Auto. The best use I can think of for the M&P22 is as an understudy for an M&P centerfire pistol to allow practice with cheaper ammo.

I'd buy one again in a heartbeat! It has been a great training gun for my wife and three adult children. Went from it to the M&P .40 FS and Shield no problem. Even with the CRAZY prices on .22lr, it is still cheaper to shoot than the others.

If you do get one, clean it and buy the right ammo to break it in. There are multiple threads discussing this.

I don't think you can beat the M&P 22 as an all round shooter, it's not a "match gun" but for pure fun it's great. I've had a Sig Mosquito and Ruger SR22 and like the M&P the best.

And, I'll be honest, I'm cheap:-) So that is a primary considration. Shooting $.75-1.25 at a time is no longer an option for me.

Could not agree more, except I'm a Buck Mark guy. :D

I do like my M&P22 very much and would buy it again. It serves its intended purpose well. If you're shooting for groups, look at a M41, Ruger or Browning instead.

I'd probably blow it on $300 worth of ammo instead... It isn't all that useful as an analogue to the full size as most of my issues are recoil related...

I have a M41, Ruger Standard and a M&P22.

Of the three the M&P is the most fun. Nice feel. Not a target gun by far.

My next .22 will be a Ruger Mark3 or another M&P22. Or maybe a revolver...:D

S&W would not sell me the M&P Rear sight, saying it was an armorer's part. Fortunately Midway USA had it in stock..

They must have changed their policy, as they sent me one. Also, if you don't like the answer you get from someone there, call back and talk to someone else. I've done this several times and they all have different answers.

Can anyone tell me how easy installation of the rear sight is?
What size Allen wrench?
Tools Needed?
Any Filing on the Sight to avoid damage to the slide (if the fit is tight)?

Also does it aim all right or similar to the center fire M&P?

The m&p will be around for a long time. Great weapon to start with.
