Something tells me this is going to be decided just on the basis of putting the OP in the best position possible for eventually trading up to a third yet-to-be-named gun.
In that regard, maybe the BNIB R1 might make the most sense after all.

My experience with the R1 comes from one of my local ranges loaner/rental guns. Their R1 was almost always broken and they could never get parts for it. Even when it worked, which was pretty rare, it was outclassed by every other 1911 in their fleet.![]()
Dead serious... and don't call me Shirley.Seriously?, couldn't get parts for a 1911Always broken?
Sounds like a very inept bunch of range folks, but then again this is an era of self-proclaimed weapons experts who really haven't a clue. This is why I avoid so called "organized ranges".
The implication was that the parts for their R1 were coming (or were supposed to come) from Remington. Why couldn't they use generic parts or parts made for a different brand name 1911?I don't know.
I wasn't aware of their lifetime warranty. Now it makes sense.I would guess that this is due to Remington now offering a lifetime warranty and the parts should be free.

So we've established the OP has listed the gun for trade; meaning he doesn't want to keep itI have a lightly used Sig Sauer P938 that I listed for trade on a local forum. It is the limited edition Rainbow Titanium Nitrade finished slide
So we've now established that the OP owns and loves the offered pistol in tradeA fella who lives very close to me offered to trade me a brand new in box Remington R1 Government 1911. As a current R1 owner and lover, I know how good this particular 1911 is
Anyway, would you make that trade? Or would you hold out for a different offer? I'm just curious to see what the popular opinion is really. Thanks
Trade used Sig P938 for BNIB R1 1911?
