I've been looking for a new Colt Delta Elite 10mm and came across one at a local store with serial number 33333. Their price is about $80 more than I can get one online for. I'm not sure if it's worth the extra $80 compared to an online price. I did account for shipping, tax, and transfer. It's $80 difference out the door. They did match the lowest in stock price locally. I'd really like to have it though, and keep thinking about it. I can afford it and think it would be unique to have it. The Delta Elite is somewhat collectible, so I'm sure it would matter some to another buyer. If it was just an average more common gun, I'd say the number wouldn't matter much. What do you guys think? Should I get it?

I think you should buy that Colt. Five 3's are unique but shouldn't make a difference. I bought a Model 59 once with three 6's in the SN.

I would definitely buy it if the gun itself was something you were in the market for anyway, which you were. It's unique and I think might add just a bit to the value down the road. That's based solely on the idea that if I were shopping for one, saw two identical on the table, but one had a number like yours..I'd likely pay a bit more.

I'm not so sure that that number would be worth anything if you went to sell it, but if you like it, what is $80? What will it mean ten years from now? I have guns whose original (to me) price I can't remember, but I'll bet that that serial number is one you'll remember for a while. If you like it, buy it.

P.S. BTW, it's worth $80 to me to buy it bird in hand, rather than gambling on what will show up from an internet transaction. IMO, this one is a no-brainer.

I didn't find much searching the internet on unique serial number value. Most others agree it's worth a little more depending on the gun. I did find however that Smith &Wesson gave J. Edgar Hoover a model 19 with S/N 333333. Interestingly the Colt I'm looking at is also all 3's.

I love serial numbers and I will pay more for a unique serial number. However, I would not pay more for number 33333

Here are some examples of numbers I own. A few cost me a premium, most did not. A couple were stumbled on by accident but most were ordered on request

The top two revolvers are from the first two runs of 8 shot 357 model 627s. The one on the left is number 27 while the one on the right is number 357

This Deluxe model 544 chambered for 44-40 is number 44

My 559 is number 770000, this was originally a factory employee's gun.

I have several other firearms that end in all zeros. A Keltec P3AT and a 2 1/2" 66 come to mind off the top of my head

My 50 BMG long range rifle :) from SERBU is serial number 50

I have more examples that are not photographed.

Every serial number is unique...
That's kind of the whole point of individual serial numbers. Sorry, I couldn't help myself.
I would pay more for being able to inspect the gun in person rather than the number 33333. I bought serial number 32454 earlier this year. I might pay an extra $10 if it had been 33333 instead.
Also I would rather support my local shops over Internet dealers but some people might not care or maybe this isn't a dealer you frequent.

YES

But unless you are into liars poker it would have to be a bit more special, like a birthday, 007, or sequential for a matched set. I had to pass on a Belgian Browning sweet 16 because it had my wifes BFF's name "Lucille" engraved on it. Maybe it once belonged to BB King. :D

Maybe for having a special number (like ladder13 said) - ALPO 1. Maybe if there were two identical guns on the table and one's number was 112055 (my birthday) I'd pay a bit more for it.

But just a bunch of 3s? No.
